My walking group of 12 stopped for lunch at the Pilot after a visit to the nearby Russian church. We had booked in advance and were put into their function room, which is nowhere near as nice as the main pub. We ordered rapidly and...the food came fairly quickly and most of the party thought it was good. I had an excellent sandwick with very good chips. There is good beer and staff were very friendly and efficient. The price was around £10 per head which was excellent value for moneyMore

My wife and I popped in for dinner last week. The bar and dining room are very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming and the staff efficient and friendly. My wife ordered the gnocchi with rabbit and a mustard sauce. This turned out to be a...very dry dish lacking flavour. The rabbit looked like and tasted like leftovers as it was very dry and chewy. It was random bits of torn/shredded meat that could have been left over turkey from Christmas. There was traces of whole grain mustard but very little other sauce making the dish very dry. I had the Jerusalem artichoke risotto which was underwhelming and lacking in flavour. There was a background hint of the earthy artichoke but not enough to satisfy. The rice was over cooked and tasted more like boiled or steamed rice that had been added to a base stock and reduced rather than a proper slowly cooked risotto. Our side dish was broccoli with butter chilli and garlic which was a very small portion of florets that had been steamed and then some meted butter, garlic and chill poured over at the last minute most of the flavour ended up in a water puddle on the plate. The worst issue was the discovery of long black hairs in the risotto. The first one I spotted on the plate so removed it and though “it happens, and the food had been heated” so I continued. Sadly, the next hair ended up in my mouth and I had to pull this out as it had become tangled in my teeth. The staff member dealt with the issue well and removed the cost of the risotto from the bill and gave an additional 10% discount.More

A group ate at the Pilot recently and enjoyed a meal 0 the pub food sharing plate (inclouding sausage roll, Scotch egg, pork pie & pork scrathcings) was enjoyed by our overseas guests, and the main course selections offered reasonable value for inner London: the...rabbit gnocchi was well liked. A discount was offered without prompting for a mixup on the order. the beer is Fullers, so the ale (London Pride) on tap is excellent.More

Last week-end I was lucky enough to be taken to the Fullers brewery for the tour which was fabulous and while waiting for the tour to start there was a promotional video of the chef school Fullers brewery run for their cooks and the food...they cooked looked very tasty so with this in mind I was looking forward to visiting the Pilot in Chiswick for lunch. I had the roast beef but sadly this was served luke warm along with the roast potatoes, the Yorkshire pudding was wooden. The staff were very young and not very well trained to serve food but not their fault and they were nice enough. I did not feel I could complain as it would seem I was bullying the staff so did not bother to voice my frustration. Shame on Fullers as I feel the have sold out the great name of this magnificent brewery.More

A small group of eight walkers stopped at the Pilot for lunch. It was just what we wanted. The room is airy and pleasant, the food was good, the choice of beer was fine and staff were friendly and helpful. Service was very speedy and...the food was good standard gastropub fare...which is what one would expect in up market Chiswick. If you are not walking, the pub is by Gunnersbury Station and, as a bonus, the lovely Russian Orthodox church is next door.More

I was staying nearby on business and this lovely looking pub was at the end of the road so decided to pop in to get fed and watered at the end of the day. The inside is sort of half pub, half eating area, quite...pleasant if not fairly noisy due to the acoustics. I ordered the London Pride - very nice! I looked at the negative reviews of the food and ignored them and ordered haddock and chips NOT very nice! The triple cooked chips were not, it was a small portion of floppy not well cooked ones... Unlike the fish, which must have had the 3rd cooking the chips should have had but hadn't, unlike the few peas on the plate... Which were cold. For fourteen pounds 50p punters expect much better, such as... The tall young guy with the dark heard who should have asked me how the food was...but didn't, so must resort to social media. All in all, a nice pub for a drink, but from my limited experience of the food, eat elsewhere.More
