Great food, lovely staff and excellent views in a cozy pub. No complaints at all. Always bustling with a great menu. Just make sure you book in advance as we had quite a wait for a table, but that was our fault not theirs.

I had one of the best roasts ever and my husband claimed it as the best fish & chips he'd ever had...& we live in Jersey! All the staff were amazing, nothing too much trouble, we didn't even have a booking but they accommodated us!

This was my second visit to The Gun. My first visit was over ten years ago, when I remember it being busy, convivial, welcoming, and the food being excellent. My second visit couldn't have been further from that experience. Vastly overpriced, pretentious, underwhelming food which...wouldn't have been out of place in a motorway service station. Disinterested staff who claimed that everything on the menu was 'good'. I can tell you, it wasn't. An eye-watering bill for something so mediocre. If you're in the Wharf, don't bother. So, you can see the O2 from the terrace? Whoppee -do, but you'll find yourself in a below-average pub shelling out too much of your hard-earned bonus on a plate of tasteless, over-cooked slop. Go to Pepper Saint Ontiod instead - much more fun, and owned by a company that ACTUALLY KNOWS how to run a pub.More

Highly recommend, our waitress went above and beyond. Great recommendations, personable, calm under pressure and generally just superb, was the highlight! Manager and other staff was also so delightful and very attentive! They truly made a lunch out very memorable. Food was delicious, so big...thanks to back off house too. We had oysters, rillete and goats cheese salad followed by steak, lamb shank and cod…. Beautiful presentation but most importantly beautifully cooked and delicious…. A huge thank you. We did want to leave an extra tip on top of service charge as it really was exceptional but couldn’t due to system. Can this be rectified or should future customers come ready with cash?!!More

We've eaten here a few times and always been wowed by the food and the quality of the service. This was another occasion when everything was very good, but just missing that final notch to be excellent. The service is outstanding - two of our...party when they asked for their beef to cooked a little more, it was done without any fuss. Initially, it was a little noisy and when we asked to be moved, they said that it would be no problem at all, although eventually we stayed where we were. The portions are ample and there is a selection to suit most tastes. All the food is complemented by an excellent selection of wines, fine by the glass and bottle, and more affordable wines also. Staff are friendly and seem to take a real interest in providing service, a somewhat rarity in the UK. Despite some mirror niggles, I will definitely be returning.More

On visiting the Gun for lunch on Saturday 24/9/22, it was completely empty except for a small party in one of the side rooms. The Gun looks the same but looks can be deceiving, a little like the web site!, the lack of service is...apparent, miserable faces and we had to pour our own champagne which was given to us in a chilled bucket and left on the bar. The staff seem to be extremely busy either chatting to each other or consumed on their cell phones, the two managers looking after the place while JP was away were no better. The menu is appalling, sounds good but its not what it seems especially for a gastro pub! which believe me, its not! it may have something to do with the Head Chef Mat leaving. After our 2 starters which were adequate we came to the main courses 1 steak which we sent back once and the second time we gave up so we took it away for our dog who seemed to enjoy it. My course of Braised venison shank was dry and not very pleasant at all, it resembled something from the sell by section in ASDA. Once a proud gastro pub serving excellent food with exceptional service, this is no longer the case, the restaurant had myself and my wife and no other customers all afternoon and i can clearly see why. As a pub, the Gun is OK, for anything to do with food go elsewhere, as a destination venue it has a long road ahead to win back loyal customers, table cloths dont substitute for good food and service with a smile. At the bottom we certify this as cheap eats but what this really means is the produce is cheap but extremely expensive for what you actually get served. Id like to say it could do better, but in reality it couldn't do any worse if it closed for a month, a sad demise!More

I rediscovered this pub after maybe 30 years after a stroll from Canary Wharf. I had a pint outside on the terrace with amazing views across the River Thames to the Millennium Dome. The beer was only £5.40 a pint which was refreshingly good value....It is well worth the short walk from Canary Wharf.More

Having enjoyed a few visits over the years and aware of the great location and river views alng with good food, we decided the River room at the Gun was the ideal spot to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with our family and we were...certainly not disappointed as last Saturday night went really well from the warm welcome from the staff to the attentive and friendly service provided by Ivo throughout the evening along with good food we could not have asked for better. So thank you Ivo and team for adding another great memory to our 40 years together.More

No hosted two events at The Gun this week. One was a large corporate event and the other an 80th birthday celebration for my father-in-law. Both times they smashed botb big time! The location is amazing - whether it’s outside in the winter or inside...all snug by the fire in the winter. The food was absolutely exceptional and the service top class. You can just tell they are one big family who want to make your experience the best. Christina on my corporate night was so kind and helpful, Barbara was on point throughout the lead up to my corporate event and James our butler in the fabulous private room made our family celebration one of the best family celebrations we had ever had. If I had a medal you’d all get a big fat gold one!! THANK YOUMore

Very authentic pub experience with super menu and drinks. We had a variety of dishes, the pork scratchings for starters was original, wine list impressive with some good numbers. Main courses we tried included Halibut risotto which was amazing as were the Deer and Beef...steaks and well made chips. Never got to desert as we went out for a smoke and missed some kitchen deadline not communicated to us and so had no sweet choice (felt like the waiters wanted us to leave). At the end the waiter decided to add 20% to the credit card bill without asking, we would have tipped anyway, but I thought this was cheeky, wish establishments would just add the tip to the bill in the first place and call is service charge. Would go again, but clarify some of the kitchen hours and approach to billing, this should not take away from the excellent food we had and atmosphere.More

Our day started visiting the Gun! Once we were in the restaurant my boyfriend asked a lady with blonde long hair if it’s possible to have 2 pints of Guinness, while she was typing on her phone she said “give me 2 minutes” . We...obviously went straight to the bar and changed our minds with 2 gin and tonics and thanks to him we had our drinks with less than 2 minutes. Once we took the gin and tonics, the tonics where very warm as they didn’t have cold, with a weather of 26 degrees outside. I understand , it can happen. We were drinking our drinks in the garden area, once we finished, my partner decided to drink a pint of Guinness and ending up paying nearly £7.50 for a pint in a small glass. We are locals to the isle but unfortunately we will not visit again the gun as the service is poor and definitely overpriced. Overall, the place outside is very nice if the weather is sunny.More

There is limited street parking available as this will mostly be taken up by residents. There is some parking slightly further afield which is the NCP car park
