Living on Bermondsey street decided to take my friend visiting for breakfast! We were met by lovely hostess but the it went downhill!! Our waiter failed to comprehend, when taking an order he's actually gotta speak!! Instead we were met with head gestures and silence!!! So not a hello good morning. What can I get you ? No repeating the... More

Someone recommended the Garrison to me as I was looking for a venue for a week day lunch in town. What a superb pub. The food is lovely and the pub is very quirky and entertaining. The only gripe I would have is that you seem to have to ask to be served. It is a very busy establishment and... More

Nice decor, updated traditional, if that makes sense. Lots of light in the room, and very airy, open feeling. I ordered the burger, which I found to be a bit underdone for my tastes, but I also didn't specify when I ordered it, so that's probably on me. The chips were fantastic! Service was perfectly good, too.

We dined at the garrison whilst visiting our sons in London and I have to say the food was excellent. Fresh and well cooked. The atmosphere in the pub was vibrant and the place was full, always a good sign. Staff were very friendly and attentive and all the food came out at the same time and die a table... More

We popped in here for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. Fresh, tasty food and drinks. Hubby had a Full English Breakfast and I had toast, beans, tomatoes & mushrooms. Freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. All cooked beauifully and so much flavour. Service A1, cleanliness A1, decor interesting mix and very cosy. Staff were polite, friendly & so helpful. Def... Popped in here for a light lunch on a very wet weekday in Bermondsey St. We have visited most of the cafes here so looked forward to this new experience. Very busy as lunchtime progressed - always a good sign. Great wines, not too expensive, about average price for the area, and our 'light lunch' turned out to be larger... More

After being turned away from another restaurant this place was suggested. We couldn't have been more pleased. Garrison Public House had a better atmosphere and we were treated to wonderful English food served by a great attendant. The beef roast was tender and quite flavorful. We enjoyed an apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

Unpretentious, buzzing with life, I have had dinner here many times and always really enjoyed it. Attentive friendly staff and great food . No wonder it is always full.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
