Friday night in Burrough Market is very busy, as was the Silka restaurant. This was our first time here and we left feeling very impressed with the food and service. The prices are not what you expect in London and when taking into account the quality of the food it was a real surprise. We will definitely be returning when next in London.

Recommend whilst visiting London by a friend. Friendly welcome. Menu had lots of choice and catered for all. Picked the Somosa Chatt and grilled Lamb chops along with a chicken biryani which we shared. Small pates were absolutely delicious, Biryani was missing something unless it was over powered by the flavour of the small plates we choose. Will definitely be returning, hopefully cooler this time as the restaurant was very warm

There were 7 of us in our group, and we all enjoyed our food. We were disappointed that naan didn't come with the meal. We had to pay extra for naan and rice, which always comes with the meal in Indian restaurants in the U.S. Juber was very nice.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We're glad to hear that you and your group enjoyed the food.
We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced regarding the naan and rice not being included with the meal. This is very common in the Uk, we appreciate your input on this matter. We're pleased to know that Juber provided you with good service. Your comments are valuable to us, and we'll take them into consideration as we strive to enhance our dining experience. We hope you'll consider dining with us again in the future.

This was a booked for a 12.30 pm Tuesday lunch due to its location and based on its reviews. It has an extremely heavy door entrance and steep steps to the basement restaurant. There was no one there but us and there is a sickly smell of air freshener throughout. The decoration is sparse and clinical. No music, no atmosphere. Another table arrived shortly after but that was it for the duration of our visit.
Our young waiter was pleasant and friendly. We chose from the a la carte menu as we weren’t offered a lunch menu as is advertised. The food was delivered quickly and with a smile.
The food is ok nothing to rave about. My fish curry was cooked well but not enough fish and too much sweet tomato base. My guest had lamb and she also commented on the tomato base. The naan is good.
Our table was taken over by an extremely grumpy manager who told us sternly that there was only one option for dessert with no apologies. We declined and asked for the bill. At no time did he ask if we enjoyed our meal or thank us for our patronage, or crack a smile. He was quite off putting to be honest and made me feel uncomfortable. Not acceptable really for the cost of the meal. I shall not be returning.

Ate here Saturday 30th July in the evening, from the start service was very poor, no communication from the waiters, drinks were just placed on the table, the same with the food, definitely no service with a smile! We had to ask to order just about everything and service was very slow, the restaurant wasn’t busy for a Saturday.
We ordered the cauliflower chilli Gobi which was tasty and spicy, probably one of the best things we ate at the restaurant, the lucknow biriani and the mushroom rice tasted exactly the same, no difference apart from the added chicken and the dough lid covering the dum pot was soggy and stuck to my fingers when peeling it back, it was also very dry and would have benefited from being served with a curry sauce rather than a cumin raitha, it’s the first place I have not been served a curry sauce to bring the dish together!
My husbands Nawabi Korma was okay but no better than from any other anvarage Indian restaurant, however the garlic Naan was pretty good! We ordered a side of saag Aloo which wasn’t ver appealing and very mushy!
We didn’t stay for extra drinks or desserts due the the poor atmosphere and lack of enthusiasm from the staff!
Cocktails were poor and basic.
The service charge was added to our bill and it left us feeling short changed!
Disappointing choice whist visiting London.

We were drawn to this restaurant for its vegetarian selection. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding and despite the restaurant being absolutely packed (they were turning people away at the door) the staff were efficient and ghe food came quickly. The staff themselves could not do enough to help us and were cheerful and happy.
The bill was a pleasant surprise too with a generous selection of mains and started for 5 adults coming in ar less the ÂŁ40 a head. That included copious large bottles of cobra beer also.
Cant recommend hughly enough.. We will be back! X

Ok. We got to London and said, “We want great Indian food.” So we looked at reviews and folks seemed to love Silka. They had good reason. The food! Beautifully spiced, perfect balance of ingredients and a star studded menu featuring well prepared favorites from various regions. The grilled lamb is perfectly spiced. And small touched like the crisp caramelized onions in the rice and the fresh micro-thin fresh chili slices with the potatoes all demonstrate a chef who is passionate about their craft. And then there is the staff… warm, welcoming and beyond attentive. The restaurant was packed but the moment we needed more rice or to order additional dishes the team led by Juber were at our table and seconds later what we requested appeared. A few special details- it was raining and busy but the manager, with a smile, helped folks get on the list, gave an accurate estimate of wait time and beat the estimate! And the bartender did not know how to make one obscure drink my wife wanted. I told him the ingredients and proportions and- bingo! It was served and fantastic. We will come to Silka every time we are in London. It is a five star restaurant. It is fun, lively and loud so be in that mode when you go. We could not give it a higher recommendation.

Visited this restaurant after seeing some good reviews but they had no music, so all the guests were shouting to be heard. Painful to be in this sort of environment, my ears are still hurting. Slow service for the waiters to take orders and then almost an hour to be served ANY food. The main course took just as long to come and was not worth the wait. Left immediately after we had scoffed our food as the atmosphere was unbearable. We were in a rush to just be out of there and were charged over ÂŁ75 for what items that we had not ordered and an optional service charge that was definitely not a reflection of the service that was given. Another group had also given up and were asking to settle the bill for what they had eaten although the waiters were reluctant to only charge what had been eaten. Absolutely awful experience, will NOT go here again.

I’ve been following Silka on Insta for ages and have been wow’s and tempted by the colourful and enticing photos of the all the dishes and cocktails.
I went with family on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday and it didn’t disappoint. The food was top notch - full of flavour, top quality ingredients- cooked to perfection.
We had the most amazing and unusual cocktails too.
The service was immaculate - attentive, accommodating, quick and slick, nothing was too much trouble.
I will definitely go back!
Thank you, Silka, for making my birthday memorable and wonderful! ❤️❤️❤️🤣

My recent experience at Silka Indian Restaurant next to Borough Market was really good. I highly recommend trying their Chicken Tikka Masala and Lemon Rice - absolutely delicious! The service was fantastic too, with our waiter Jahir being attentive, kind, and sweet. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I'll definitely be going back soon.

The restaurant didn't have my table reservation when we arrived. The service was really slow. The waiter didn't take down our order well, so when the starters finally arrived some of us were missing our food. A larger table of people arrived after us however got served first and left before us. The food was nice once it arrived, and that thankfully was the only positive. The staff were not warm or welcoming. When we asked for the dessert menu - the waiter was reluctant to give us the menu and said 'I only have Kulfi' like he didn't want us to order anything more. It's a shame as the reviews were great, and the food was good once we finally received it but unfortunately, the service was really poor.

My friends and I had dinner here on Thursday, which was my first visit here. The place was fairly busy, but there seemed a reasonable amount of staff around. However, we found our service was extremely slow. The time between ordering our food and receiving it was probably well in excess of 45 mins. To add insult to injury we received an extra mushroom rice we didn’t order and never got our onion bhajis. I’m also not convinced my main was the one I ordered, but everyone else got theirs correctly and it was the last one left so I accepted it.
The food itself was good and I don’t think it’s overly priced compared to other places. That being said I wasn’t around when the bill arrived as I had to get a train and it was again taking a long time for them to get around to us.
Not ideal, but perhaps just a bad night with a few mistakes. I’d consider going back, but might book earlier in case service was slow again.

Jimbo,
Thank you for the review you have left us. As you have said we were busy on the night you dined with us and when we are busy, service levels fluctuate. We have re-iterated service with our staff in training and we are endeavouring to ensure it is always the best. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and we do hope you will dine with us again soon.
Thanks

The staff are extra friendly and helpful in here and the food is beautifully presented and tastes fresh and delicious. We chose a couple of dishes we hadn't heard of before which was exciting (eg chicken chenai which was a luscious spicy and creamy curry) as well as some classics like samosas and chicken jalfrezi. There is a great selection of vegetarian options with a special section on the menu devoted to a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Everything we had was fresh and well-cooked, really beautifully presented and tasted amazing. It's also a very reasonably priced restaurant located right by the entrance/exit to the tube station which makes it so handy. I would highly recommend a visit here and would love to go there again myself.

Very friendly staff, who at first were attentive. However, it took nearly an hour for us to get our starters, which was blamed on the kitchen being busy despite tables that sat down well after us getting food well before we did. Overall, the food quality was very good and the location and staff are big pluses. Our evening though was rather spoiled by the presence of an incredibly drunk large party who wreaked mayhem around the restaurant for much of the time we were there. Noisy, rude, knocking drinks over other guests and generally behaving as if they were the only guests. The floor manager should really have stepped in, but chose not to. What made it worse, as the compulsory 10% service charge, despite the long wait and unruly fellow diners.

I frequently come here with friends and it never disappoints. The food is genuinely the best meal I've ever had, the king prawn chennai is to die for. They recently hosted 54 of us, as part of social group London Muse, and they set up long tables upstairs outside for us as it was a hot day and we didn't want to dine in the basement. If coming in a smaller group, the service is generally slow, but the food is well worth it. As they were expecting our massive group, however, they got the staff in and the service was fantastic and very attentive. The waiters are friendly and Silka is just a great night out in general. We will be back, many times.

Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
