I took my sister to celebrate her birthday and we had a great evening. The view was spectacular as always and the decor of autumnal colours was beautiful in the evening light. We had lovely cocktails to start at the bar, then a very good meal, which we both really enjoyed. The service was attentive and really added to the... More

My friends surprised me with a birthday dinner at Skylon Grill and I was impressed! The view is spectacular, the service really attentive even though it was a busy night. We had share platters to start that was really a nice beginning of the evening. As main I had the Monk fish curry and was really tasty. My friends had... More

We were around the Southbank area and decided to pop in for a quick cocktail... Just simply amazing, the cocktail list was good and Danielle was very helpful as we couldn't make up our minds. After a few cocktails we asked for a menu. Waitress came back very promptly saying that they have a nice table by the window for... More

Been last Friday for few drinks with friends and we decided to have dinner. The waitress at the bar found us a table in the Grill. Was really nice service and good food. Juicy steaks and good wine suggestions from the waiter. The highlight of the night was the view, service and the Eton mess for dessert. Definitely recommended!

I've been in Skylon with my boyfriend, we sat down at the bar first, cocktails are great, nice service, and then we've moved to the restaurant, where Julia looked after us really well! We choose the tasting menu with the wine pairing, food and wine are excellent, and the explanations are great! Thank you to Skylon Team for this experience,... More

As with many restaurants in this group the food is good and very well presented. The set Sunday lunch with the unlimited prosecco is good value as our glasses were constantly replenished. On the whole the staff were very friendly and attentive. However those who are responsible for meeting you could do with some training update. They did not seem... More

Dinner at the Skylon Grill at the Royal Festival Hall delivers great food with a fabulous view. The set menu is £35 which is a bargain when you consider that you could pay the same to look at the view from the Shard and the view from the Royal Festival Hall has a lot to recommend it. You can watch... More

An excellent place to dine if you plan to visit an event at the Royal Festival Hall. To get a good table that overlooks the river you must either book way ahead or dine very early. Dinner starts at 5-30pm. The large dinning area is very bright and airy and the waiters are attentive The quality of the dishes served... More

The food has always been impressive and service good. However on this visit I was grabbed by the waiter in an abusive encounter where he told me he expected a larger tip. Rude, patronising and arrogant that the food doesn't balance.

We went to Skylon for my sister’s birthday and I am so glad we went there. The food is amazing - we picked from the set menu £20 for 3 courses including a glass of wine and also from the a la cart. All the food was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked, a delight on the... More

Skylon takes its name from the original, iconic structure that was built for the 1951 Festival of Britain and the restaurant's design echoes the style of the Royal Festival Hall during the same period. Situated on the third floor of the Southbank Centre, Skylon boasts outstanding views over the River Thames from its huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The main Restaurant features modern British cuisine, while the Grill offers more informal cooking and a relaxed atmosphere. The two dining areas are separated by a stunning centrepiece, raised bar which is renowned across London for its fabulous cocktails. Executive Head Chef Tom Cook brings a wealth of experience to the kitchen, following time at sister restaurant Pont de la Tour. Look out for regularly changing menus with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients combined simply and imaginatively. Visit the Skylon website for sample menus and further information.

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
