My boyfriend loves Indian food so as a treat we decided to go to Tamarind, a Michelin starred Indian Restaurant. When we arrived staff were very attentive. We ate from the pre-theatre menu, and were stuffed. You get three delicious courses with a variety of dishes to choose from with a cocktail and coffee/tea. It was nice to go as... More

My british husband and I love Indian food and always try to eat Indian food when in England. This time we stayed in London and decided to eat here. My husband booked weeks in advance. The restaurant is located in a nice area and we got appointed a nice table. The staff was exptremely friendly and welcoming and "our' waiter... More

Whilst just about to sit down at the theatre I suggested we get a curry afterwards. I know about Tamarind but didn't expect them to accommodate us. They did however. They were really welcoming even though we were the last table. The food was outstanding, great use of spices, wonderful flavours. No curry hangover the next day..... great service and... More

First time we have visited this restaurant and were not disappointed. The service was attentive but not intrusive and the food was first class, not disappointed at all. All of our group said they would happily go back again.

We visit this restaurant 4 times a year and the fact that it is a 140 mile round trip from home should confirm that it is well worthwhile. The food once again was first class and the staff were attentive and helpful. The food is memorable and we just wish that they would open a restaurant in the Oxford area.

We went to Tamarind last Monday to celebrate my husband’s birthday. From the moment we walked into the restaurant to the point when we left, we could not fault it for anything. We had the Taste of Tamarind menu and it was just superb. Indian food taken to the nth degree. Every single morsel was delicious. The wine we ordered... More

The entrance had an unkempt feel, the carpet in the reception had food stains and was quite filthy; the banister on the staircase was sticky to the touch. I would first close the place for a day and give it a good steam clean all around, renovate a few things like the carpet and the walls and ceiling and then... More

Went there with a couple of mates on Saturday and the service and food was top notch. My favourite restaurant in London by far. The Waiter was kind and helpful and the food came to my table piping hot. it was DELICIOUS!

Not your average tandoori/tikka masala joint to be sure. More of a fine dining establishment, with more subtle Indian flavors and aromas. Upscale service, wine list, and prices to match. I liked it, but I'd probably take a step down next time in London, not because I didn't enjoy it, but I frankly prefer the typical tandoori/tikka masala joint for... More

We had made a reservation for three (2 adults, 1 infant) clearly specifying we had a baby with us. No one cared to call us to confirm our reservation or to let us know that babies are not welcome after 7pm (who eats in London before 7pm...???). The manager came to the door and refused to let us in, because... More

Michelin-starred Tamarind presents an elegant take on Indian cuisine from its gilded dining room in chic Mayfair. The inventive menu is rooted in traditional Moghul cooking, with fish, meat and game dishes brought forth from the Tandoor oven in an authentic north-west Indian fashion. Muted tones and attentive service make the restaurant a smart yet convivial destination.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
