My mother and I came for an early dinner and chose the set menu as we had spent a lot of money shopping that day! We had some yummy aperol spritz', which they did very well, and the service was super attentive and smiley. The food was not mind-blowing, but it was definitely yummy. We had the platter of veg... We had a few cicchetti and clam linguine. The linguine wasn't five stars but the service, cicchetti and gelato made up for it. Lovely atmosphere and honestly made me long for Venice, in a good way. The service was good and the varied clientele would lead me to believe most people would enjoy a meal here.

Polpo was a wee bit disappointing. The cicchetti were inexpensive but the baby octopus was vinegary and tasted like it came out of a packet, the parmesan crocchette were barely cheesy and I'd rather they charged an extra couple of quid for something of a better quality. The biggest irritation was the Aperol Spritz, totally flat as they make it... More

We had booked online, but for some reason we were not on the welcome list! Anyway, the guy in charge managed the situation nicely and we got a good table after 15 minutes. All the food was tasty... the small mushroom and Taleggio pizza was scrumptious and the Beef shin Ragu very tasty. The bill, including desserts and a bottle... More

I liked this place a lot. Came here with my cousin and uncle, the place was crowded but we got a seat in the bar. Very comfortable and the food was amazing.

We were recommended to visit and were not disappointed. We had several different plates starting off with the Arancini which was super. The ribbon steak was fantastic as were the desserts. It's a very understated restaurant with fabulous food, we will definitely return.

Spent well over an hour in the bar here being told "you are the next table, we are preparing for you", whilst other couples were constantly led to tables in no particular order instead. Gave up in the end as there are several great restaurants around the area that are accommodating and honest about their waiting times.

What a delightful little restaurant, very good service from the very engaging staff. The special lunch menu was extremely good value, especially the sharing plate of Venetian style snacks and the deep fried stuffed olives. A real find!

Polpo is a bàcaro, a humble, Venetian restaurant serving simple food and good, young local wines within a modest setting, exposed brickwork, tin ceilings and copper bars. Several of the restaurants have basement bars - a great clandestine destination in their own right for drinks and a snack, or as a handy place to hang out while you are waiting for your friends to join you.

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
