the food and service was amazing and faultless. Michel came round and spoke to everyone . We were made very welcome and at ease, all staff very friendly and went that extra mile when I requested a signed book as it was my birthday with a personal inscription but Michel had then left but they arranged for it to be... The artichoke and fois gras 'artwork' is probably the best dish I have ever experienced. The service was exceptional, except for one over-energetic waiter who could have been a bit more regal at my table. Was it worth the experience? Absolutely. This is the cradle of fine cuisine in the UK. I grew-up in the Italian restaurant scene of the... More

We last visited Le Gavroche 15 years ago. We had good memories so we decided to return to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were greeted warmly and taken straight to the table. The decor is quite traditional and has the ambience of a gentleman's club - we like that. We also like that this... More

Its four days ago and I can still savour the incredible Lobster Mouse, Veal Chop and Omelette Rothschild ( a variation on an Apricot Souffle). If you want an unforgettable gourmet celebration, could be Birthday, Anniversary, Brexit- this place has always been and remains special. Vive L'Entente Cordiale! Plus Michel made an appearance and sent a small cake for my... More

We went for our 30th birthdays, and chose the tasting menu. The service was perfect, the food was cooked perfectly, and the atmosphere really made us feel like a part of culinary history! Michael Roux came out and greeted all of the guests, which was a bonus! Of course, the cooking here is very classic, and if you appreciate that,... More

It has been quite a few years since my last visit to Le Gavroche and it is still as fantastic as it has always been. The Roux family are naturals at running restaurants, they know how to make you feel welcome and the front of house team are lovely. They don't miss a trick. Back of house the kitchen team... More

Everything was perfect. Great food, attentive and friendly staff and excellent wine. We met Michel Roux who went from table to table - we told him it was our wedding anniversary and a cake appeared with Happy Anniversary on it. It made it all the more special that he had done this. I would go back anytime!

We booked a table for myself and 5 friends a few months in advance (as is normally required). It was a Wednesday lunchtime booking and the restaurant was quite busy at 12.30. We quickly had our coats taken and were shown straight downstairs to the table as there was no room in the small bar area upstairs. We went for... More

We had lunch yesterday at Le Gavroche for our daughters 18th birthday. Even though we are used to eating out this was quite new territory for us - first time at a Michelin starred restaurant. We certainly were not disappointed - the food was delicious, impeccable service and Michel himself even came to say hello, ask if we were being... More

Description
The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
