The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

What can I say....plenty!

I can't believe that I am going to say this, but we were a little underwhelmed by our evening at this restaurant. It has been on our list of restaurants to visit for quite sometime and by chance after many times of trying we were able to book a table. Perhaps because of this long wait we had really... read more

We were lucky enough to have been given the "menu Exceptionell" experience by work colleagues for my birthday last year but had to wait for a convenient date. It was very much worth the wait as the food and service was exceptional. The only reason I haven't rated this 5 stars is that on the fish dish the skin wasn't... More

Went last week . A 20 year gap since the last visit, when we had a great lunch ( £27.50 a head for the fixed price lunch at the end of the 1992-94 recession) That wont even get you a starter today but the food & service are fantastic so well worth the treat. Great wine list as well so... More

My wife and I have been wanting to come here for a long time. It was worth the wait. Every course was delightful. Matched wines were excellent, with a few cheeky top-ups by the sommelier. Minor glitch with having to wait 5 mins for accompaniments to cheeses was hardly major. The pacing of the many courses was efficient but never... More

WOW - what an experience. You just have to go no matter what hurdles are presented. I was invited to enjoy the lunch special and this was an experience not to be missed. 1pm to 4.30pm and it was worth every second. Great company did not hurt either however this is a culinary event. The Lunch Special must be booked... More

A fantastic evening. A culinary extravaganza at what is clearly the best restaurant in London ... if not England. Michelle and his daughter Emily created a magnificent selection of gourmet dishes for a select group of 'Gavroche foodies'. It was more like a family occasion, with Albert Roux sampling the cuisine to check that all was well at the West... More

We had booked this well in advance to thank our parents of all their help in making our wedding the best day ever! We were looking forward to going as we love our food and to really treat them. Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
