Myself and my husband like to treat ourselves at least once a year and visit a Michelin star restaurant. This time was Le Gavroche and we were not disappointed. From the time we entered the restaurant to the time we left was an incredible experience. Everything from the attention to detail, the staff and the food was exceptional. Before we... More

We often go to Lunch in London, as cheaper than full blown evening A La Carte. And you still get 3-5 courses plus wine! Having recently been to Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley we were keen to see how this stood up, especially as it had taken 2 years to get in! Tip- my wife hit the phones in the... More

We had the taster menu to celebrate a special birthday for my wife. We arrived at 12 and left at 3.30 and I was very ill at 6.30. We have told the restaurant in the event others had the same experience. The restaurant is lovely and the staff are very attentive but our experience did not match the Michelin star... More

We booked 3 months ahead for my birthday lunch and the much anticipated menu exceptionel of 8 courses and wine. We started in the nice cosy bar with champagne cocktails and 2 delicious amuse bouche before descending to the restaurant in the basement which is richly decorated and dark. We were seated in a padded alcove against a side wall... More

We shared the most spectacular starter, a ball of foie gras, truffle and chicken mouse over a heart of artichoke resting in a perfectly complimented red wine sauce. It is one of the best dishes we have ever had. We learned that it has been on the menu for decades. The oldest menu stalwart is the cheese souffle which debuted... More

We went here for my brothers 40th birthday and had the tasting menu. There were some highlights with the food notably the cheese souffle and the stone bass (albeit my mum found a bone in her's). The pig's head terrine with snails was a low point due the crunchy cartilage being particularly unpleasant. The service was pleasant if a little... More

From the moment we arrived through to our departure we were waited on in the most amazing fashion. Our conversations weren't interrupted yet some how the table was cleared course after course and more food arrived. The wine pairing was fantastic!

We knew we were in for a memorable dining experience when we visited Le Gavroche. The Roux Bros have, almost single handedly, shaped the British approach to fine dining over the last few decades. And boy!, did this place liver up to their reputation. I simply could find no fault with any aspect of a dining experience that we will... More

OMG!!!! It's the best dining experience ever! Went for dinner with friends and all I can say is Wow!! Had the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was all totally delicious melt in the mouth food especially that cheese soufflé. I can't say anything negative about the experience, it was too class from start to finish and I met... More

Description
The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighborhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
