Went for supper with friends on a terrible night with rain and sleet, therefore loved the fact that it is very close to where we stay when in London! Staff very welcoming and competent, nice table, pleasant décor. Waiters efficient and very good selection of dishes. As a mains I had sea bass in an oriental sauce: it was superb. Everybody... More

I went with a friend on a Wednesday evening and we were the first to arrive and very quickly the restaurant filled up. The service was very attentive and professional. We had salmon to start presented wonderfully and really tasty. I had chicken milanese and my friend had sea bream which she navigated in terms of removing the bones!!!! I... More

Classic English dinning with a twist, a good one. One dish I simply cannot go past, so venturing off piste is difficult- a starter portion of the Crispy Duck salad, through popular request it now has more duck - for me - more than ample meal, preferred old version , yet perfection still exists, ordering an accompaniment of divine chips,... A warm welcome was offered by the door and cloakroom staff. A choice of two tables was initially offered. We chose the area away from the middle of two swinging kitchen doors. The waiting staff descended immediately and the relentless pressure to gets us off the table by seven thirty began.A basket of quality bread and butter arrived. We ordered... More

My better half and I visited Le Caprice for dinner after visiting the theatre (The Book of Mormon - excellent !!) and to be honest, we were a little disappointed. Accepting the fact that we were on a 'special' - a combined theatre-and-dinner ticket deal - we felt that the choice of food on offer was on the poor side... More

We went for an evening with friends and this is a regular top restaurant for us in London. I enjoyed the duck salad with pomelo flowed by roast Sea Bream. Beautifully prepared and presented. The food cost is very good value for a restaurant of this category. We did push out a little on the wines with a Corton Charlemagne... More

Obsessive compulsive disorder is actually a very serious condition of which more later. However before I digress on the problems with this affliction I should first state that I have been a customer of this restaurant for over three decades and it is possibly my favourite restaurant in London or anywhere for that matter. I would never have considered reviewing... More

We went as a party of six to celebrate my wife's birthday (which they knew from my booking). During the evening we dealt with about five different waiting staff; they were all perfectly efficient but there was absolutely zero warmth, charm or humour from any of them. It felt like being at a corporate event. The food was OK, but... More

Starter was crispy duck. Neither of us could chew it. Tasted like only the skin had been reused and recooked.. Replaced one with dressed crab. It was more like a terrine. Bisque for the other one of us was passable. Both ordered lamb and it was tasteless. We left without ordering, wine, dessert and coffee. We were at the restaurant... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
