This place was a bit out of the way, but well worth it. We were tired and a little intimidated by the noise of the crowd. The service was excellent and we settled in quickly. I started with a seafood Scotch egg that was delicious and followed up with the venison Wellington. It was the best entree I ever ate!... More

Visited with friends who are living in the area, but had not been before. We were blown away by the quality, artistry and taste of the food served. The service was wonderful and the wine list generous and well priced. Our first visit in nearly 3 years. The place was buzzing. This is the best local restaurant in Southwark and... More

Such a wonderful place to go for dinner, there were four of us that each had a starter and main and all of us loved the food. In particular the scotch egg and also the venison Wellington were amazing. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back. 10/10

Initially aiming for a pre-theatre dinner, we allowed ourselves plenty of time and were wowed by three courses of classy presentation and sumptuous tasting food. The starters were: Porter and treacle cured smoked sea trout fillet with a delicious caramelised leek and onion flapjack; and a perfectly cooked Smoked scallop and West Country crayfish Scotch egg. The mains were: Roasted... More

First time here but booked for two more meals already. Very nice efficient, friendly but unobtrusive staff. It felt as though the diners were all gradually herded into the space as the room was filled up from the back coming forwards so at one point one large part of the room was empty and the rest crowded. I didn't like... More

Visited with friends for a mid-week reunion. Restaurant packed and noisy. Good atmosphere but hard to hear conversation. Food was very interesting with excellent quality ingredients and well cooked. Like other reviewers I found the scotch egg to be bland and the prices very high. Yet this is an excellent, friendly and cheerful oasis in a desert area of London... More

A pleasant surprise! Tasty food beautifully presented. Relaxed atmosphere - love the piano as focal piece. Our enthusiastic server added to a very enjoyable evening. I was impressed with a comprehensive and reasonably priced wine list. This is fine dining without the pretense of white table cloths and stern faced waiters. We will be back soon!

We were in the twilight zone of the day after the Bank Holiday so it was very quiet but the service was great, food delicious and so easy to get to. 5 minutes from Southwark Tube for me and easy parking nearby for my friend.

Visited after seeing reviews on TA, Had The Scotch egg starter, which was ok if a little on the bland side. Mains were Pork belly very expensive at £22 for what it was, could have done with a side mash or something instead of the piece of carrot and piece of brocoli. Wife had the burger which was quite rich tasting.... More

Visited after reading about it being one of London's best kept secrets. Wide menu with exciting options. Very reasonably priced for central London. Roasts were absolutely massive! I had beef which was delicious. The salad and other roasts looked delicious too - with huge Yorkshire puds! The gravy was too thick for me though and had a bitter aftertaste. Pleasant... More
