A beautiful restaurant where the decor, service and food were delicious. My only issue was that the cheese was from the fridge and that was out of line with all the other food. Would definitely go again.

This was my third visit and each time it just keeps getting better and better - if you want a stiff atmosphere and pretentious Michelin starred food then L'Escargot is not for you - however if you are looking for a great French inspired menu delivered in a relaxed fun environment then L'Escargot is the place. Last night I started... More

We booked the private dining in Salon Vert for a surprise for my brother 65 on 6th January 2017 and it was a wonderful fantastic evening perfect. The room was great in style and the food was delicious and mouth watering with a good choice for all. What made the evening so perfect was the service received from the gentleman... More

We had a private dining experience here on 6th Jan for a family birthday dinner. I can honestly say everything about this evening was fabulous. The room was gorgeous as was the food and the staff simply couldn't have been more attentive. Thank you, we'll definitely be back...

My friend and I dined at L'Escargot before going to see Aladdin at the theatre next door. I had heard great things about this restaurant so chose this restaurant fir my friend's 40th birthday. We were not disappointed-the food was amazing and great service

This restaurant makes you feel quite special from the moment you get seated. I think it's the grand old style red and black decor with a roaring fireplace and huge, ornate mirror, plus carpet and posh, velvety curtains. It's like dining in an old house. The menu was very different from the website sample menu, so I can only assume... More

Hadn't been to l'Escargot for years but decided to revisit it as had elderly clients who remembered it from the 60s and thought they might appreciate it. The place was as dramatic looking as ever, very rococo with lots of mirrors and great swags of curtain. We chose the set menu which at £21.50 for three course was incredibly good... More

Lovely restaurant with a comely ambience. This is a little, cosy restaurant therefore you will need to make a reservation. Warm atmosphere, could make for a very romantic dining experience. Service is fast and friendly. Food is incredibly tasty. I could equate the quality of the food here just as in any Parisian restaurant. Highly recommend the French onion soup,... More

Description
L'Escargot is the oldest French restaurant in London. However, as a Soho legend, it is very much up to date. Relaxed atmosphere, good food and wine, all reasonably priced. There is no dress code (nudity discouraged !). L'Escargot has been host to stars of stage and screen for many years. Previous clients include, Coco Chanel, John Giulgud, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Ralph Richardson, Judy Dench, and the late Princess Diana. Pre-theatre and post theatre dining is popular and theatre and dinner packages are available. You may just pop in for one course and a cocktail or glass of wine - we look forward to welcoming you.

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
