Came back after many years to Gabi's. The dilapidated toilet and west end posters on the walls used to have a certain charm, but now it just seems neglected. Menu is as it was in the 90s I think, and I had a decent falafel & spicy potatoes, but it lacks some of the fresh taste of previous years. It... More

Wedged in between theaters, this deli/restaurant serves home cooked eastern Mediterranean food. I had foul medames and humos, and char-grilled aubergine with Greek salad. All wonderfully fresh and at a price not usually found in central London. The whole feel is a bit retro, unintendedly so, I suspect. It is a survival of a bygone era, and a refreshing change... I think it's family owned and operated, which may be the reason for the lack of professionalism among the younger employees. The food is good, I have no complaints in that area. I ordered the lamb kebab.

"Long-running Middle Eastern institution from the man who claims he brought falafel to London." I "found" this deli/restaurant while working in Trafalgar Square. The food is just so good and the assortment for their mixed salat is exquisite. Their homemade stuff are out of this world. They make a gullach that is a "Must try before you die" dish. There... We had an excellent impromptu lunch here of Falafels and salad. Excellent food, good service and good value for money. Place was very busy and the atmosphere was wonderful. Highly recommend it and would come back again.

This is a bit of a shame as the food isn't great and the prices are too high for the quality and portions of the food. I wanted to eat somewhere that wasn't a chain but A small salad at £7.50 isn't great especially as it was a replacement for falafel that wasn't very nice or edible. I won't be... More

Back there after a five year absence and it still is exactly the same. I always try and fit in a visit to Gabys for a Salt beef sandwich. Do order pickles to go with it as well. I can honestly say its the best salt beef in London. I see that old Gaby is coughing a bit lately .... More

I love the food here- home cooked and fresh- one of the best meals i have ever had. Good for vegetarians but you don`t have to be. Inventive salads without the high price of Ottolenghi.

Just stopped here after a show. It became very frustrating just trying to order because the owner(?) did not speak much English. It was a further problem as it took him forever to figure out the credit card machine. Our meatball sub was not good, pastrami was petty good and falafel kinda boring.

Had lunch here on Saturday with my wife. Her salt beef sandwich was great. My mixed grill not so great but not too bad. We really loved the atmosphere with really interesting photos and posters of London etc.It was packed and service was a bit slow which in my view added to the gritty atmosphere. Nearly everyone was eating the... More
