Had to give this an average score due to the above, especially as we were on an Olde Worlde pubs of London crawl! But.. Now you know, well worth a visit... Just imagine being around when Charles DeGaul wrote his famous battle stirring speech upstairs!... Oh, and you can by a pint, but only on special fund raising days where... More

The French House is famous for the politicians (de Gaul) and artists that drinks there. It has probably the best - value for money, quality and range of French Wine in Soho. You will get no screw top or unoaked chardonnay here. They also have more interesting beer on the tap than just Kronerberg. The only down side is that... More

This iconic watering hole in Soho has played host to Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud amongst others and is something of a landmark. I have been coming here for some years, maybe not as a regular, but certainly long enough for the staff to know who I am. It therefore pains me to say that unless you are a 'media'... More

West End theatergoers should make it a point to stop by the French House before or after the show. This pub is a drawing card for actors, writers, and other locals, and savvy travelers may be lucky enough to spot true show business royalty on occasion. The pub's "no music, no machines, no television and no mobile phones" rule ensures... More

Popped in to get a quick meal on Pride London evening. Smart place and nice welcome. Really looking forward to steak and frites. Then it all went badly wrong. We could only order rare, medium or well done. Medium rare was a step too far and not allowed! When the bread arrived we asked for butter as well as olive... More

Great little pub on Dean St, very small but full of History. A true traditional pub with a no technology policy and serving beer in half pints. A must visit if wandering around Soho/China Town and in need of a beverage.

From J Boy of Derby Good little pub this, service quick and a very friendly doorman which is always a good sign of a well kept establishment. I was expecting them to only serve lager wine and spirits but pleasantly surprised to find ale sold, but only of course in half pint glasses They do have a strict no mobile... More

We always pop in here before a show or a gig or just to meet up with people before moving on. It can get very busy but it is in central London so that's to be expected and it is well worth it especially if you enjoy a little Guinness (They only serve demi beers) they also serve all the... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
