I've always had the best of service and amazing food. I go to England @ twice a year and they actually remember me here. But I have seen, in the case of a rude or pushy customer, those put on to the back of the queue. No nonsense is the name of the game and no cell phones - I... More

My friends and I went to this pub last night, in general the staff were ok but the older blonde lady who I can only assume was the manager was extremely rude to us. Her manners were appalling, and she would shove you out of the way, answer shortly to ordering drinks, and treated her staff unfairly. We even heard... More

Nice little pub with an interesting history (see p. 43 "London's Best Pubs"). Because it was initially a wine and whisky bar it doesn't serve beer in pints but you can order two half pints at the same time. Good charcuterie plate for lunch though it took a long time to arrive because the restaurant upstairs was very busy apparently.

Slightly disappointed with our visit here. Called for a drink while waiting to meet our son. As my phone rang and I answered the bar maid yelled at me that I could not use my phone and pointed to a faded sign that was barely readable. I have never been here so was unaware of this her manner was abrupt... More

I've been visiting this Soho institution since the late 80s. I usually make at least one visit whenever I'm in London. Very little has changed in all the time I've been a visitor. The walls are covered with pictures, photographs and other memorabilia from across the years. There are a couple of things worth pointing out. Firstly, they don't sell... More

This is a fascinating establishment. It is impossible not to think back to its days of being the watering hole of artists and actors. It is a tourist attraction but at the same time it retains a realness.. The French House is more English than most places.Wonderfull.

I always enjoy visiting this bar, it has loads of interesting pictures and memorabilia from theatre days, mostly passed, on the walls. The fact they only serve halves only increases its quirkiness. It's a great place to people watch and there's always some interesting locals inside.

Yes, it's a French-themed pub and restaurant in the home of the classic inn and as such only serves beer in 1/2 pints. But it's a London institution in the heart of Soho, London's decadent capital and is full of characters of every variety from famous (and less successful) artists and actors through to writers, intellectuals, romantics and louche lizards... Stumbled on Bumble's drinking hole. What a fab place. We agree Bumble it's a fantastic drinking hole. Loved the ambance and will come every time we come to London and muse how many people have lent on that bar. One slight negative the young barmaid seemed be hating life and hate working in one of the most iconic London pubs.... More

Had to give this an average score due to the above, especially as we were on an Olde Worlde pubs of London crawl! But.. Now you know, well worth a visit... Just imagine being around when Charles DeGaul wrote his famous battle stirring speech upstairs!... Oh, and you can by a pint, but only on special fund raising days where... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
