This is a nice pub with friendly but overworked staff. When we arrived it was quiet but when the food arrived it was much busier so when tepid food was sent back to be warmed up it took 20 minutes as they re-made the whole dish. The food - small portions, poorly presented, lukewarm and massively overpriced - £17.95 for a small steak pie, dollop of mashed potatoes and a small spoonful of what I think was probably shredded cabbage and leek, not sure. Extra gravy a bonus but that didn’t make up for charging a fortune for food that would have fitted on a side plate. I know prices have increased recently but this was just a rip off. Fullers pubs used to be “Ale & Pie houses, that’s certainly not the case now, not sure about the choice of Ales but there was only 2 pies to choose from. I would go back to The White Hart but definitely not to eat, I would have been better off going across the road to Tesco’s for a sandwich!

All in all this is a nice pub, good atmosphere, good service, tasty food… BUT… the value for money taints the overall experience.
I ordered a burger and a sticky toffee pudding, costing a total of £22, and I had to buy a packet of crisps afterwards because I was still hungry. There were about 12 chips. Come on management… just put a few extra chips on a plate to make your customers feel like they’ve had a good meal and want to come back.
I’m afraid I would look elsewhere for a hearty meal next time.

A nice pub down a quiet side street with some decent outdoor tables and standing space. Service at the bar is really fast even when busy and prices are reasonable for the area. Everywhere is clean inside with a nice atmosphere and I’d happily return.

To flee absolutely. This restaurant is a disgrace. I had booked for 3 people Sunday 29/12 between 7pm and 8:15pm, I had received confirmation by email. We arrived at 7.40pm and the waitress told us that the kitchen was closed! "The kitchen is closed!" When his fellow waitress had just served a fish and chips to a customer in front of us! I'm gonna advertise this restaurant bad as soon as I get the chance!

Thank you for your review, You booked a table for 7pm, and as per our confirmation email we have a 15 minute table policy. As you arrived 40 minutes late for your reservation the kitchen had closed. We had been busy and made sure all dinning bookings were able to order and again just to confirm you were 40 minutes late for your reservation. We would advise arriving on time for reservations in the future.

Dropped in on our way back to our hotel and what a surprise. The barman was more than helpful and attentive. I had a pint of Fuller's Xpresso Milk Stout that was so good I enjoyed a second. My wife had a NZ SB that she thoroughly enjoyed she also went for a second. We rounded off the drinks with a perfect serving of hot chips, mayo and tomatoe sauce (we refuse to call it ketchup!!).
The general atmosphere at the White Hart was so comfortable and relaxing we noticed another couple nodding off. We will definitely recommend others to pay a visit and enjoy the atmosphere of this quaint local pub. Many thanks again for the warm hospitality.

Don't go here if you're hungry. Food is overpriced and portions are minuscule. ÂŁ18.50 for fish and chips, there were about 5 chips hidden under the fish. Very stingy portions, same with the overpriced sandwiches. Quality is ok, but it wouldn't fill up anorexic mouse.

I’m working in London staying in an area I have not stayed before. I booked a table at the White Hart for dinner. I arrived and was shown to my reserved table. 20 minutes later I asked a female member of staff if I could place my food order. Her response was we are a pub & you order your food at the bar. I explained that I was not made aware of this & this female member of staff stated it’s a pub that’s what happens in all pubs in England!! I advised that I’m a visitor & this is not what happens in all bars in England. This female of staff shouted to me it is & walked away. I approached the bar to explain that I would no longer be eating & I was shocked at this member of staff behaviour & she snarled at me. At this point I left, the pub manager followed me to apologise & asked who had taken me to my table I explained which male member of staff had shown me to my reserved table. The manager was trying very hard to limit damage control. However regardless of who showed me to the table & even if this member of staff failed to tell me to order at the bar. It does not excuse the female member of staff response or behaviour. I will visit this area again due to my work however I will not be visiting The White Hart!!

Dear Gill,
Thankyou for taking the time to feedback to us about your visit. We aim for every customer to leave happy and have clearly not met our high standards on this occasion. I will be having a serious conversation with the team that were working last night to get to the bottom of what happened.
I have tried emailing you with the address you provided but have received a bounce back, could I please ask you to drop me an email to whitehart.southwark.manager@fullers.co.uk so that I can follow up with you on your visit.

We were staying in a hotel nearby and had gone for a wander looking for somewhere for our tea and thought we would see if they had any tables. We were lucky they had just cleared one and with covid restrictive measures still being in place we were very happy with the way they made sure before they seated us that they thoroughly cleaned and cleared the table etc. We both decided to have steak and it was cooked just perfectly to our liking (both wanting different) and it was very tasty. Really nice pub and very busy bearing in mind it was early evening and mid week and with not many tourists around London. Staff were great.

Pleasant decor and swift yet unobtrusive service contribute to a relaxed informal environment. Appealing range of sandwiches and more substantial pub grub, in generous portions, and good selection of craft ales, spirits, and wines.
Difficult (but not impossible) to find parking.

A decent stop off for a pint, en route to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant for food (just along the road).
In a lovely location, not far from our Travelodge in Southwark, this was a traditional London pub, representative of what you’d expect to pay for a pint in the city. Plenty of seating inside and good draught choices - I without hesitation opting for a Birra Moretti.
The atmosphere was lively - it was disappointing that the weather was so bad otherwise we would have sat outside, where it also looked great.
Overall, a steady start to a good few hours out in the capital.

We had a weekend in London staying in Borough and found this quiet pub tucked away from the noise and bustle. My husband had roast chicken I had to beef and sticky toffee pudding. It was all delicious, especially the Yorkshire puddings. Staff were really nice. We will definitely go back.

Had the most amazing roast turkey lunch here on Sunday. The staff were all so warm and welcoming. The food was some of the best I have ever had. Every item was so flavoursome - from the meat, to the veg, the stuffing and the additional gravy. I had a pint and my wife had a tonic. Cannot thank the staff enough for such a nice visit and hope to visit again soon.

This a great pub, small with very friendly and efficient staff. We held a 30th birthday party in their upstairs room and everything was very well organised. Unlike some other pubs we approached, the communication was excellent from the moment we first enquired about the booking. All my emails were answered quickly and the service on the day was fantastic. We had some buffet food and this was tasty and with good sized portions.
We’ve also been for a quiet drink and some lunch in the downstairs bar and found it to be a friendly and pleasant place to spend an hour or 2.

6 of us went for a Sunday roast. Only one couple in pub eating and couple of people drinking outside. The pub looked like a genuine boozer so hoping for a good roast and we were early 1230am
The service was poor. The couple at the bar who seemed to be running the pub paid us very little attention. After choosing out meal I had to go up and ask to be served, despite no one else in the pub. Plates not cleared at the end of the roast. No offer for desert. Again I had to ask for a menu. One menu then given for 6 people and again I had to go and find someone to order. It was like the 3 people serving the total of 3 groups couldn’t be bothered.
The food was poor for a roast. Poor choice of vegetables. Thin tasteless gravy. Anemic potatoes.
Won’t be returning

The beautiful thing about this place is that it's near TWO hotels, and yet you can get two different clienteles, depending on the time. Lunch: many visitors, good pub food, and great beer. After dinner drinks: This is a LOCALS pub; I"m not sure I heard an accent matching ours any night we came. But well-behaved patrons, happy folks all about at any hour, made this a spot for repeat visits. The staff were understanding of us clueless yanks -- big ups to Thando in particular! Made us happy each time we came back and saw her smiling face tending bar (or doing 500 other tasks, it seemed!).

Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
