I went here to the Oyster bar section purely out of curiousity to try the various Oyster selection they had (one of the best ranges I have ever seen). Oysters were excellent, served with Liquor in the shell along with a basic wine vinaigrette and tabasco on the side. I pleasant surprise. The building itself is a very old Art... More

Table by the window, a good start. The tables for two are too close together but fortunately no-one was put next to us otherwise it would have felt horribly cramped. Professional Gallic smooth service is a big plus and the menu is classic French. The house champagne is excellent, pata negra superb, the fish soup and steak tartare were reliable.... More

I normally shy away from hyperbole; but this was perfect. A rushed booking, but an unexpectedly cool table. Gorgeous quails' eggs with an unexpectedly interesting chilli celery salt. I was torn between the baked crab gratin, or the lobster macaroni. I leant towards the former, the waiter insisted on the latter. And he was right. It was simply perfect. Chunks... More

Bibendum is a stylish, expensive restaurant that you will like, I promise you. Its Oyster Bar is a bit more friendly, perfect for a light lunch or for take away if you have the good luck to live nearby. Oysters are excellent as are crabs, Lobsters and shellfish; the selection wines is good enough and you will like the ambiance.... More

First meal here in about ten years. It's lost some of the "buzz" since then but still a worthy place to go. Lunch visit today. Smoked Eel & Chicken for me and Haddock appetizer & Calves Liver for the boss. Glass of wine, fizzy water, two desserts and a couple of coffees came to 90GBP inc. 12.5% service. Decent, not... More

We went for a dinner with couple of friends. The old building was fascinating. The service was perfect. Food was tasty but not delicious. Porisons were very small and prices were too high.28GBP for a porsion of fish...sorry half a fish!! I would recommend this place for a special romantic evening or a business dinner only.

I went in with my partner for his birthday without warning the restaurant that it was his birthday. We had an absolutely delicious meal and at one point I casually referenced his birthday to one of the waiters. We didn't order a dessert, just a coffee and yet they brought a plate decorated beautifully for his birthday and with a... More

I had tried to book a table at this restaurant several times but it had always been fully booked, however last Sunday I had better luck. It was worth the wait!! the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The menu has a good choice of food with an exceptional wine list. It is not a cheap restaurant, but I don't think... More

We visited Bibendum as a party of six, for a family get together on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is in an historic Art Deco building, once the Head Office of Michelin, so plenty of eye catching designs to keep your interest. The menu is reasonable priced for such a trendy, well reviewed London restaurant. I had the escargot followed... More

Bibendum, the flagship of the Conran gastro empire is housed in the historic Michelin building on groovy Brompton Cross. As you might expect, it delivers topnotch French food with impeccable service in a spacious chic setting. In fact, the food is so delicious that one is in danger of leaving the premises feeling like the Michelin man himself. Fabulous wine list to complement the menu and an ideal location to indulge in a little post lunch shopping on the cross or down Walton Street. With a set menu for lunch at £36 you can enjoy a 'grande bouffe' without a grand bill.

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
