I'm Syrian and have grown up on delicious homemade yummy Arabic food. This is so yummmmm and authentic and amazing. Least not to mention cheap and BYO no corkage. Get the stuffed cabbage leaves, liver, mixed grill, fattoush, vine leaves, falafel, humos... Yummmmmmmmmmy!

We ate here as our E meal of alphabet eating. I'd managed my expectations from the reading of reviews and wasn't expecting anything swish. It's very basic style and lacking in atmosphere. When we visited there were several other diners who looked like regular visitors. As a vegetarian I struggled a bit - several starters to choose from but only... More

Hidden gem in London and don't be put off by appearances. We visited this little restaurant on our recent trip to London and loved the food. My boyfriend is Eygptian but has lived in England for 48 years and he said that he has never tasted food so authentic and full of flavour. We took our food fussy 11 year... More

Down to earth and homey. Delicious unpretentious food with authentic flavours that remind me of food my Grandmothers used to make as my parents are both Egyptian born. The family that owns the restaurant all seem very friendly and proud of their recipes and heritage. You aren't going for the decor or to be waited on hand and foot, but... More

To be fair, most reviewers are generally happy with the service but some are not, including me. The staff were all sullen, unsmiling and not friendly. Most establishments have atmosphere, this did not. A salad we had been enjoying ‘disappeared’ before it was finished. Some reviewers say their falafels are great but others including me were not impressed, mine were... More

What a great find. I met with two school friends, one of whom we hadn't seen for 40 years! We didn't arrive until 215pm but were greeted warmly, once we made our way through the rather unprepossessing entrance into the main eating area at the back. Only one other diner, who left shortly after we arrived. We ordered 2 starters... More

The restaurant serves good food and staff is friendly. But be aware- they do not serve any alcohol. You can bring your alcohol, or buy it from a shop close and consume it in Ali Baba. Still this fact is a complication you would not wish to discover once you are seated as I did. Also, they do not accept... More

I used to live in Cairo, and I miss the tastes of proper Egyptian street food. Ali Baba filed that hole in my life - hummus, mutabel and foul to die for, and proper chicken molokhia and koshary. You wouldn't stumble over it by accident, and the shop front is unprepossessing, but a nice little dining room at the back... More

Restaurant tucked around corner from Baker Street and Marleybone Stations. Very small and from outside it does indeed look like a takaway joint, but beyond that is a lovely clean room used a a restaurant. We were 8 friends/family catching up. Ali Baba offers free byo i.e. no corkage charged. We tried several of the starters with breads - Moutabel... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighborhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighborhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
