This is a real stalwart of the lunch scene in West Central London. While on a quiet(er) street, it is close to many shopping landmarks. The dining room is comfortable and airy (and the loos have piped readings of Winnie the Pooh!). Service is good. Food shows imagination as well as classical fare. Not too expensive considering the location. Also... More

One of the great joys of London are the wonderful places to go for breakfast and they are not too expensive. Franko's has a great buzz and a little whimsy...they play Winnie the Pooh in the Ladies toilets. There are all sorts of people having meetings, discussing the economy and just enjoying London. I had the eggs Florentine with beautiful,... More

Went to lunch here yesterday with 3 girlfriends. The place was buzzy and friendly. Our waiters were friendly, helpful and attentive. We had the set price lunch menu. The prawn starter was attractively presented and very tasty. Main was Guinea fowl, again very tender. We ordered extra veg which was needed. Overall was delighted and would love to return.

This was our third visit for ten old guys who enjoy visiting the nearby Royal Academy and having a really good lunch afterwards, Despite booking our table some four weeks in advance we were surprised to be relegated to the gloomy basement. Had we known about this in advance we would certainly have cancelled the booking. The food on this... More

Thank you for your recent review of Franco's following on from our trip to the Royal Academy. We recently decorated Franco's including the basement and continue to receive many positive comments, so it is for this reason we are surprised you thought the basement was gloomy. I understand that the reception received positive feedback from a couple of members of... More

Taken to Franco's for dinner on a business trip in June. Very busy restaurant and obviously very popular. Table had been pre booked - I think there would have been difficulty getting in otherwise. Service very good and waiters helpful/attentive. Good selection of food - I had a starter of Parma ham and melon (lots of ham) followed by Veal... More

Extremely overpriced. You could go to Bella Pasta and there isn't much difference. The food portions are small and the alcohol extortionate. We gave feedback to the manger on duty but this was met with smug "we have to pay our rent" which I understand but the quality of food should always reflect the price. I have no issue paying... Thank you for taking your time to pass on your feedback. Naturally we are very disappointed that you did not enjoy the experience. We feel that you may have exaggerated the cost of our main courses, only one is priced at £34, the rest being priced in the mid £20's all our pasta main courses significantly less. I hope that... We had no reservation for lunch. It was crowded, but they somehow managed to seat us upstairs to our delight. The mushroom risotto was the best, the service was faultless, and we left with a bounce in our step.

Opened in 1946 in Mayfair, Franco's restaurant has been one of London's most popular Italian establishments ever since. It continues to offer local gourmets a tranquil oasis away from the buzz of the city. Set at the St Jamess end of Jermyn Street, Franco's is fantastically located for the galleries, private clubs and hotels of the area. And the pre-theatre and afternoon tea menus are a delight. The restaurants character evolves throughout the day from the early morning breakfasts to laid-back lunches and romantic candlelit dinners in the evening. The elegant 1940s-inspired dcor is bright and modern, with light wood, off-white walls and comfy upholstered dining chairs. Franco's sumptuous Mediterranean menu has been developed by Head Chef Paulo Parlanti and showcases fresh seasonal produce in traditional and modern Italian dishes. Popular dishes include the duck breast with Castelluccio lentils; ossobucco ravioli with veal jus; and the classic tiramisu. Service is flawless and the wine list is a winner too.

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
