Location and contact

Opium is set in a townhouse behind a secret jade door. Sprawling over two floors with views that take in Chinatown below, Opium is heavily Chinese influenced and themed, in the ingredients and flavours found throughout the cocktail list, the dim sum menu and tea offering. The décor is a mixture of both rough and luxe, and antique and modern, spanning time and style from all over China. The attic area has an open-kitchen style bar where guests get involved in the theatre of drinks-making.

Visited around 11pm for some late night cocktails and dim sum. Was a queue and wait to get in which imo is a good sign! Cocktails delicious but pricey (£12-£15 average), dim sum was best I’ve had including those in Hong Kong! Good friendly atmosphere...More

We were walking around and somehow ended up in Opium for drinks! It was so cool up there and the drinks are great. Msic is just the right volume so you can still talk and the vibe is great.

Well to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Waited outside to be let in. Kept ringing and was finally let in even though table was pre booked. Took the offer for dumplings and gin for £10. Glass of gin was nice but tiny....More

A noticeable change at this bar over the last year, and the level of service, which previously was excellent (for the West End), has now become West End standard, poor, indifferent and essentially rude. This had been a go-to bar for pre-theatre drinks and nibbles,...More

First time for me in the Opium, but I didn’t meet that impressive taste that I personally was expecting. The service was a bit grey, not very happy to serve. The atmosphere was quite cool, very cosy! as a first timer nobody came to explain...More

This bar is tucked away in Chinatown- you wouldn’t know it was there. Myself and a friend chose cocktails and were not sure on our choice. Someone in management was extremely helpful and noticed and was quick to help us choose a different cocktail. The...More

One of my absolute favourite places in London is this hidden gem in the heart of Chinatown! Love the ambience, amazing dim sums & cocktails! Bartenders are friendly and make the drinks with passion! One of my frequent haunts in London! Highly recommended!!
