We ordered pizza a couple of times now. Great taste, superior ingredients. It is a real Italian pizza (from south of Italy)

5 people went to this pub as one of the group likes IPA which apparently Fullers usually have. Disappointingly they didn't have IPA for our visit. We all had Pizza which apparently comes from the next door restaurant and it was very good. Those of...us who had a glass of wine (250 ml) were charged £10.70 plus 10% service charge. Usually pay less in the West End of London. So the Pizza was £7.95 and the glass of "Pub white wine" (description on receipt) was £10.70 and total bill for one £20.52. The person who had a splash of soda in her wine paid about £22 +. I think the Pizza was worth much more than the wine. We moved on to somewhere where wine wasn't so expensive. Covid protocols strictly in place. If you cant download the app you have to log in to a website at the door before entry and add your details. Not sure what happens if you don't have a mobile phoneMore
The pizza is (as usually) very good. But the waiters didn't wear a masks. I think the management should ask waiters to wear a mask, as a sign of respect towards customers and to show they take care of their employees. Others restaurants and pizzerias...in Ealing do it.More
Had a great lunch of pizzas from next door Santa Maria which were truly excellent. I wanted a soft drink similar to San pelegrino lemon and was charged nearly a fiver for a glass of virgin mary cocktail.. A tad steep for an orange juice...with sparkling water. Other than that, great place, ate in the garden which was quite peaceful. Antibac at the entrance and track and trace login.More
I have only been to this pub on rare occasions however I was walking passed and noticed it was open for takeaway draft beer as well as delicatessen food. I took away a 2pint plastic bottle filled with an excellent Brewdog IPA and three plastic...glasses. This was the first beer I have had since the start of lockdown so it tasted amazing.More
Having been a fan of Santa Maria since it opened, I was delighted when they took over the Red Lion. It's just a shame the original Italian owners don't seem to be at the Ealing branch any more, as they were friendly and good fun...and the service was excellent. The pub has also changed so much now it serves pizza instead of the typical pub grub. All very disappointing when you add in a turntable belting out loud music, possibly only on certain evenings. I don't think the combination works for me. Many tables left when the music started. So perhaps they should wait until about 10.30/11 to turn up the volume. I gave this 3/5 because the pizzas are still great.More
Poor service and poor staff but nice food when it eventually came. Messed up the order 3 times and all 7 of us ate at different times over. 2 hour period. Also asked for a veggie calzone and ended up with a meat one. If...I’d complained my mother in law would have gone psycho so I just had to eat it. Luckily I’m not a 100% vegetarian. Shame as the pizza is really nice. After the first round of cock ups the staff just avoided ya and we had to keep flagging them down even when they were waiting on other tables very blatantly next to us. Poor service. Shame on you guys especially as I had my two young kids amongst us.More
Completely agree with so many of the recent reviews. The food may still be good but the service is terrible. This used to be such a great pub with great food. I used to come all the time. Think will give it a miss going...forwardMore
Visited the pub with my family for an evening meal and had an awful experience. We ordered 3 pizzas and 2 main course salads. The main course salads arrived reasonably promptly but no pizzas. After repeatedly asking the manager and being given various pathetic excuses...the pizzas finally came after a 2 hour delay. I mean how long does it take to sort out a problem like this especially when a pizza takes minutes to cook in a wood fired oven. The attitude of the staff was less than helpful. The evening was ruined. We were offered a full refund for the bad service but despite being given a receipt showing my Apple Pay debit card was refunded no monies were received. I chased this up with the manager and was assured there would be no problem. Days and days passed by and then I was told to email the pub owners with “proof” that I had not been refunded. I promptly emailed a redacted bank statement but nothing was heard - totally ignored. I sent further emails and texts but no one was bothered. I finally took it up with my bank and was credited back after a full month. This pub has a serious problem both with service and management attitude. Basically they couldn’t care less. The pizzas were nice and the salads were very average. However, I will never ever eat there again after this episode.More
