I read the menu and almost went next door but decided to stay. We had the Japanese tapas...yum and then I had the noodle soup with prawn. It was tasty, filling, fresh and I left knowing I had not picked up too many calories. Jeff had the saki, I had the water.Seats were comfy too.

Authentic Japanese food served in a cafe setting providing excellent value for money. Seems to be operated by its owners who take great pride in quality and service.

Amazing little place in Exmouth Market, really friendly and welcoming, reasonably priced, and the food is amazing. Had a few dishes from the Japanese tapas menu, and they were all very tasty. Some portions are bigger than others, and there wasn't much octopus in the big octopus balls, but overall a very, very nice dinner.

Total chance find but one that I could highly recommend. Unlike many Japanese restaurants in London, this one has real Japanese staff and the food quality is excellent. Reasonably priced, especially with the happy hour Kirin Icihbans! Service was a little slower than expected but the quality of the food was very much worth waiting for.

Came here for lunch, service was quick and food really well cooked and tasty. I ordered the fried tofu served with rice and pickled vegetables and was incredibly delicious, one of the best ones I've ever tried. For dessert an amazing green tea tiramisu that was beyond my expectations. So good!!!!

Cafe Necco is located in the trendy Exmouth Market area of London, and by outward appearances is a simple Japanese cafe, with laminated signs and the appearance of somewhere you would stop for a quick snack. The appearance however is deceptive. The quality of the Sashimi is outstanding (at least by the standards of the U.K.), and the nigiri includes... More

Had lunch here on a Friday, having the salmon teriyaki lunch set. Food came quickly. Salmon was prepared well and was served with rice (white/brown - you can choose) and some salad. Ideal for a light lunch, close to university.

I work in the area and so have ended up in Necco several times over the years and it has always been completely mediocre. It always tastes like anything warm, is fresh from the microwave. And although thats probably true of many restaurants, Necco also feels quite expensive for what you get, both in terms of quality and quantity. I... More

The staff makes you feel like in a Japanese cafe right from the start. Some rules are not Japanese though - no free green tea with your meal. We ordered udon and were a bit suprised how the tempura turned out- instead of single pieces in a batter, there was a nest of fried stuff inside our soup bowl. Maybe... More

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighborhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
