My local pub. Good selection of beers and wines. Most of the staff are really good, but Gina really stands out, she is such a lovely lady, she can’t do enough for you and goes above and beyond, you can tell she really enjoys interacting with people and she really enjoys her job. Some of the food is a bit overpriced, a handful of Cashew nuts in a bowl for £2:50 for example! And the 3 tiny Arinchini balls for £8 something? I know it’s a family friendly local community pub but after 6pm there shouldn’t be any children under 12 allowed?

Our son and daughter in law booked a part of the bar area for their son's Christening. They were reluctant to accept offer the standard sharer snacks to the guests and the Landlord and events organiser were voluntarily willing to provide a selection of starters and special requested items in sufficient quantity to more than satisfy the needs of 50 guests. Not only did they ensure there were adequate service and support staff but they were all very willing whilst still being professional. I can only speak for the ale but the quality was very good and consistent whilst being reasonably priced. Tables are cleaned as soon as free and they decor is welcoming. If there were negatives I would volunteer them but I can't think of anything that spoiled the day. I think everyone had a wonderful day and even my grandson behaved himself and slept a great deal. regards - Marc

I wouldn't have written this review had it not been for the excellent service of Charlotte who looked after a group booking of nine people for a birthday dinner. The food was nice but not excellent e.g. the sea bass was a bit tasteless, the portions of chips for fish and chips were a bit meagre, the burgers were not necessarily value for money etc. However, the atmosphere was clean, bright and welcoming in the atrium at the rear, the drinks were well presented and exciting, but mostly it was Charlotte's friendly and attentive service that saved the evening.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your food on your last visit. I would say that normally any issues that are raised with the waiting staff are quickly handled by the kitchen team and we'd have been only too happy to serve you some more chips or replace an item. We do hope you give us another try and experience the 5 star Lord Northbrook experience! Warm regards, Clare

I have been a regular for Sunday lunch at the Lord Northbrook for many years. I went for Sunday lunch on 22 September and was very surprised at how the portion sizes have got a lot smaller. The roast was ok but consisted three very small thin slices of beef, one carrot and a table spoon of I think butternut squash mash, same if cauliflower cheese, potatoes and a Yorkshire perched on top. My friend had one piece of chicken where they had in the past served two. £26.00 each for that. We had the pudding, which we don’t normally do as we generally hadn’t needed it. I had treacle tart for £8.00, to say it was a child’s portion would be an understatement, the wide bit of the triangle was less than an inch wide and the cream was about a teaspoon. The atmosphere is great, the drinks pricey, but I am generally prepared for that, but very expensive for quite a small Sunday roast and a tiny pudding, without drinks £34.00, with drinks and tip nearer £50.00.

The Northbrook is good to visit at any time. It has a lovely calming decor and atmosphere and the staff are friendly, professional and obliging. I take my nearest and dearest family and friends here for a meal as the food is always very good. The menu is changed intermittently and caters for all pallets and never disappoints. I visited here today for lunch with my daughter. She had the fish and chips and I had the Seabream. The dressing on the tomatoes, cucumber and chorizo salad served with the fish was divine. Both dishes were delicious. Signed: Very satisfied customer😊

Average roast dinner worst Yorkshire puddings. We remarked they looked like biscuits the waitress said they had run out and the next batch were rushed ! Suffice to say we left them and no attempt was made to offer us any money off. Also extremely noisy, children running around the restaurant. Won’t rush back

I arrived at the Northbrook with my mum who uses a wheelchair. We arrived 15 minutes before opening and went in to check opening times and if they were serving food. The staff were exceptionally welcoming. I told them we were in their garden area and my mum uses a wheelchair. A staff member described to me all the access points which would be suitable for us. He told us that they would be open in 15 minutes, he said that in the meantime he would bring us menus and a jug of water, which he promptly did. The outside area was great for us, it was a lovely sunny day. We sat in their canopy area, which is like a raised platform, which was really nice. They also have a really beautiful glass roofed extension on the back of the pub, which would be a great place to have a meal. The whole of the pub is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet. We enjoyed our food and drinks, we will definitely return here. The staff were top notch and the environment really welcoming. I wish I lived nearer. They get five stars all found from me. Genuinely lovely people, very welcoming. My sister went the previous week and told me how kind and thoughtful they were. I love their consistency.

I used to eat here fairly regularly and it was pretty nice. It has gone downhill badly. We got there for a 7.30 table booking to be told that half the menu was not available. Annoying, but okay, we chose something else. Food came fairly quickly and the starters were really not bad at all. Then came the mains, all of them were badly over seasoned, to the point of being unpleasant. This was consistent across the different plates. We had the fish and chips, with massively over-salted chips, and the cote de boeuf, with over-seasoned meat, too much salt on the chips, even the mushrooms had far too much salt on them. They had also thoughtfully provided salt on the table just in case we managed to find a stray chip they had failed to ruin. This is basic, basic stuff and a real shame. Then came the most unforgivable part of the evening. Having finished with the main course they eventually came to clear the plates and disappeared off, this was now 8.50 (service had been slow). We had a look at the dessert menu and came to a decision on what to have (after all they can't ruin the desserts with salt right?). It took some time to catch a server but eventually over they came and we said we were ready to order dessert, only to be told with a totally blank face that the kitchen WAS NOW CLOSED. Seriously!! I said at this stage shouldn't that be the kind of thing you mention before it happens to be met with a blank look and an unconvincingly mumbled "sorry" it closes at 9 o clock. While that may be the norm, the idea that you abandon a set of diners halfway through a meal without any indication that they are about to be cut off is just ridiculous and they should be ashamed of themselves, Tragically I don't think they even registered just how badly they had performed. Needless to say, we won't be going back and I would recommend that you find somewhere else to have a decent pub dinner. This lot don't seem to be able to manage the basics anymore.

Hi Rachel Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We were sorry to read your review. We do a check back on every table a few minutes after serving your food to check that everything is well. I note that this did happen and we would have been very happy to replace your food immediately if you had notified your waitress that you were unhappy. Regarding the kitchen closing without you being notified. This should not have happened. We usually inform our customers 10 minutes before the kitchen closes in case you would like to order dessert. Clearly this did not happen and for this we apologise unreservedly. We will make sure all of our staff are aware of this so that it does not happen again. We do hope that you'll give us another chance to impress you. If you would like to follow up on any issues we would appreciate you contacting us here at the pub. Warm regards, Clare

First thing to say is - we had a good time. It was a delayed family lunch for Mothers' Day and we were determined to get out. The service was slow and inconsistent with no continuity of staff. Not a smile amongst any of them and we didn't ever know who was looking after the table. In general we all thought the food was good: two starters, five mains and three desserts. But the big gripe is this: the sheer dishonesty around charging for drinks is so disappointing. We spent £250 - why try to fleece us for more by charging for double spirits when it wasn't asked for, and three times charging for a large glass of wine when only a medium was asked for and served.

Hi Trevor Thank you for leaving us your feedback. On rare occasions, we may be working with a skeleton staff due to sickness or for other reasons, and if service was a little slow on the day you visited we apologise for your inconvenience. May I reassure you that as a team we are tight knit bunch, very happy carrying out our roles, we're also extremely proud of our pub. I assume that the mistake with the drinks was reported, apologised for and sorted out promptly? We do hope you'll give us another try in the future. Warm regards, Clare

We recently held a celebration/ book launch event on a busy Sunday afternoon. Claire was most helpful from the start and took the utmost care with food ordering as 2 of my sons have complex and dangerous allergies. The atmosphere was excellent and pricing was most reasonable. It was a lovely experience and I would recommend the Lord Northbrook to anyone planning such an event. Thanks again to manager, Claire and the excellent staff.

We had a wonderful family meal celebrating my dad’s 79th birthday and my daughter’s 30th birthday last night. The pub has been beautifully decorated with fairy lights and tree for Christmas giving it a really gorgeous atmosphere. The food is very good with a special mention for the steak dish and the haddock. But above all else our waitress Georgina deserves special recognition for making our visit especially welcoming and enjoyable. This woman literally did everything to ensure we had everything we needed and went that all important extra mile to make our evening go so smoothly. A lovely touch was the way she respectfully shook the hands of both my father and daughter, wishing them both happy birthdays! We had two babies in our party and they were well looked after and accommodated too. The final touch was their willingness to bring out the special birthday cake to a chorus of “Happy Birthday” sung by us! Overall a fantastic venue, great ambiance, good food and excellent staff - well done to The Lord Northbrook - we’ll definitely be back!

This is our hallowed local. I am comfortable to wait on my own until my husband arrives. All the staff and managers are friendly and respectful of locals privacy and at the same time make sure we are not left waiting to be looked after. Tonight the floor manager found me a table and seat we always are offered table service rather than attending the bar it’s a nice and appreciative touch, helpful when you on your own. The pub is very clean tidy nicely decorated warm and comfortable. The wash room are immaculate always well presented with good quality hand wash and lotion. We visit 3/4 times a week straight after work a comforting waterhole before heading home after a day in the city and all the homeward travel challenges that await southeast Londoners the Northbrook awaits to sooth away the days efforts like a smooth landing after a bumpy flight. We have yet to sample the new food menu and shall look forward to the chefs offerings but there’s not hurry. Quiz night is becoming a legendary weekly Tuesday night staple …. Happy that we have a truly great local pub ….

A beautiful, airy, spacious, clean Pub and Restaurant, on the inside and on the outside area. Both the Manager, and our host, Sofía, made us feel truly welcomed, always attending to us readily with a natural smile. That alone already made it a pleasure for us to be there and it continued to be so for the duration of our stay (thank you). There were three of us eating plus my niece's new baby girl in her pram, and the sense of space around us made us feel very comfortable. The food was delicious as well as well presented, at reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Lord Northbrook and shall be returning there at the first opportunity. I highly recommend it. A real pleasure.

I've been here a few times but not for a while. The place remains the same, very welcoming, warm, and spacious too. It's dog friendly, has good outside space, and a nice open space at the back of the venue that allows for group events/gatherings. We celebrated my God Son's christening here a few years back and saw a wedding "reception" there yesterday afternoon whilst grabbing a couple of cheekies and a burger with friends. The Guinness is ok [nothing to write home about] but the Beef Burger and triple-cooked chips were on point and were decent value for money. The staff was a bit slow but not to the point where it ruins your day. On previous visits, it's usually busy so worth getting there early and/or booking a table since this s family and dog friendly which means you'll likely encounter some larger groups.

I've been going to the Lord Northbrook for many years but recently the atmosphere there has stepped up a notch and its all due to the amazing staff: Georgina, Sofia, Milton and Kirsty. Nothing is too much trouble for them and you are made to feel so welcome, it's a home from home and the food is yummy. Well done to you all and I highly reccommend anyone living in the local area or beyond to pay you a visit xxx
