This place is stuck in a 1970s time warp. You can't fault it though. Good prices hearty caf food. Very friendly family run joint. Great place for a full English fry up. Obviously it would win any healthy eating competitions but how many greasy spoons would. Love it.

I absolutely love this cafe which is directly opposite Putney Bridge Station. It's great value, well cooked and wonderful staff. I do wish though that reviewers would stop confusing it with the other River Cafe which is very expensive and in an entirely different area! So please, fellow reviewers, check you're posting in the right place first because this little... More

Had lunch here as a treat for my birthday. Yes it is expensive for what is essentially an Italian restaurant. However the food was delicious, very fresh ingredients, cooked beautifully. We has 3 courses and all the dishes were amazing. Lovely location and a very nice atmosphere, good for celebrity watching too!

We ate here every morning we had free once we found this cafe behind our hotel near the Putney bridge railway station. It also seems to be a bus depo of sorts with red buses pulling up constantly. The clientele is clearly local mostly and he owners chat to you, remember what you had yesterday and share a joke. I... More

Really bad value for money. Food is average but very expensive. There is no justification for the prices. My advice is to avoid.

This is a regular haunt for me, a place in London you can get a cup of tea for less than a pound is always a great find! Whether it's a sandwich or a fry up they are all great and it's not pretentious at all which is getting a rarity in this area!! The staff are so friendly and... More

Although the portions are small, they fill you up!! Incredibly tasty and refined! And they're not afraid to change things up a bit if you have any special requests! The chocolate nemesis cake is a must!

This is a fabulous cafe directly opposite Putney Bridge Station. We stayed at the Premier Inn but ate breakfast at the cafe both days. The bubble and squeak was delicious and the breakfasts are such good value. The owner and his wife are so friendly and welcoming, we will definitely be returning.

My first visit to this iconic restaurant was during the late nineties. I've since returned over and over again. The level of cooking had been consistently high, never disappoints, even through the changes in the kitchen team. The menu changes frequently but my favorites include their cloud like gnocchi, squid appetizers among many wonderful dishes. The dining room is laid... More

Reminded me of my visit to Bar Italia in Soho and Capitan Carluccio in Battersea, another quirky, retro original Italian cafe that hasn't bowed to modernisation, and does what it does just right. So bubble and squeak breakfast for us today and of course an espresso made by Italians in central London. Perfect.
