I was on business several weeks in London and the Hotel suggested I try "De Palo's" as it was just down the street. Everything served appeared to come straight out of a local Super Market. Instead of a traditional Italian bread - they served sliced plain bread from the local Super Market. Instead of a selection of dried meats as... More

From our arrival we were greeted by name and felt as if we were coming to an Italian family gathering! The restaurant is very welcoming with plank wood floors and every table has fresh linen! Our service was efficient, friendly and didn't intrude. Maria is the chef and her pasta is divine! Worth a visit!

I had lunch at De Palo' s today, I really enjoyed the whole experience. The service was excellent, their house red wine was flavoursome, an unusual herby aftertaste. I had the monkfish which was excellent. I shall return, would recommend

We needed a restaurant close to the Bridewell Theatre to eat a quick meal before the show. Da Palo's opens at 6 pm. I cannot fault the service. The staff, especially the manager, were very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious, the wine was good, the toilets were clean and family/child-friendly, the restaurant was bright and clean. We will... More

I reviewed this restaurant last year, and thought I would review again as have just been for lunch, well taken out for lunch by my nice boss!! Its a little gem hidden up a little alleyway so never truly busy and very quaint and authentic in its approach and cooking. We ordered a couple of dishes which were freshly made... More

Being guest at DePalo’s during each business trip to London (from Berlin) was always a great price and the best pleasure after a hard working day! Very genuine and original Italian dishes made by simple ingredients combined in a very original fashion (I myself am Italian). Daniele with all his staff is an outstanding host! For me this restaurant is... More

This restaurant is off any beaten track, lying semi-hidden in a quiet passageway close to St Bride's and near to St Paul's. It offers a proper warm welcome and delicious freshly cooked Italian dishes, a relaxed and convivial ambience, and tables which are well spaced enough for privacy and conversation. The service is good and attentive. For visitors to London... More

Very friendly place considering how close it is to big tourist locations. Good, standard Italian in a good setting.

Wow what a little gem near St. Paul's Cathedral. I'm so happy we found it. The Antipasti was wonderful, Scialatelli al ragú di cacciagione was a homemade pasta and ragu! The wine was great and finished off the dish an espresso with lovely chocolates. This is a family owned authentic restaurant, could not ask for better service and passion was... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
