The Fish and chips served here are by far the best you will get for miles around. The choice of beers is delightful and ample. The atmosphere in the evenings is rocking especially over the weekend. In my opinion an all round great boozer for either a cheeky pint in the afternoon or a good night out with your partner and friends or wonderful pub dining with family.

I have been visiting Chiswick for many years since moving to London from Scotland and one thing Scotland can’t do is a Sunday Roast.
The Gorge IV Chiswick is a great place to visit for in my opinion one of the best in the area. Today was a good reason for visiting as I have been trying to taste the Roast Rump of Lamb, I have been trying since was added to the menus but always just get in a little to late and miss out. Today wasn’t going to be one of those days got there early and ordered the Roast Rump of Lamb when arrived. These was some available.
Have to say was worth the wait and well worth getting there early to order before it’s gone.
Will be back very soon to have again if I do get there a little late there is a great selection of Sunday Roasts to pick from and will always be happy with the Sirloin of Beef.
Today wasn’t even more special as have to say had one of the biggest Yorkshire puddings I’ve had with lunch.
Well worth a visit not just on a Sunday they have a new autumn menu that is great too if you not after roast.

We went to the George IV Pub for one of their Jazz Music evenings.
It was our first time there, even though we have heard about it several times.
We have had such a great time.
The music was fantastic, great musicians.
The food and beers were excellent - even though at Chiswick prices - and the service by the young smiley staff was lovely and efficient.
I would greatly recommend you to have a look at music nights, as it seems to be happening very regularly.
Another bonus, if you have the Chiswick Calendar Card, you have a 20 % discount on food and drinks at any time, even on those events.
Fantastic evening....
Well done guys. We will come back.

I’ve been local to this pub for two years and have always rated it highly, usually choosing it over the many other options in the area. The live music, comedy nights, fun crowds of all age groups, great food options and ‘dogs welcome’ policy contribute to a fantastic atmosphere.
All of this has been ruined over the last few months by the fact you simply can’t get a drink at busy times. The staff oscillate between grumpily avoiding eye contact, and being overly friendly with their mates and selected locals to the extent they just don’t serve anyone because they’re too busy making small talk. Everyone I spoke to last night was experiencing the same problem - the bar staff have no idea who is next in line, so you have to have sharp elbows and a loud voice to be in with a chance, and if you’re not a pretty young girl you can forget about being served by any of the young lads. On top of this, they get the order wrong more frequently than acceptable, and the same round seems to vary in price with alarming regularity.
At one point in the evening we counted six people standing around the glass collection area doing nothing whilst one brave soul attempted to serve an increasingly impatient mob that was at least three people deep across every inch of the bar. There’s a vibe of ‘serving isn’t my job, I just collect glasses.’ Why don’t they help each other? Who’s managing the team? Surely they’re not taken by surprise when the pub is heaving - it’s always busy at the weekends, and you’d think they would have a plan of action to anticipate this and get as much money in the till as possible. It won’t be busy for much longer if they don’t get their act together - more and more locals are quietly taking their business elsewhere as they just assume a night at The George IV will be spent predominantly in a queue with other frustrated and thirsty customers.
I don’t like writing bad reviews, but last night was the third weekend in a row I experienced all of the above and I really hope they sort it out. It bears repeating, if the service was top notch this could honestly be one of the best pubs in West London. I really hope they sort it out.

The service was great: no complaints there. The pub is beautiful too. I ordered roast pork because I wanted the cracking-experience. Two main issues with the meal; firstly is arrived barely warm and secondly the crackling was inedible.
For £20 this really isn’t acceptable.
I doubt I’ll be back here for food.

Ive come in last week with my mate to have what was meant to be a quick pint. To my suprise i found out i am completely invisible. It was mindblowing how many times barstaff walked past me.
After around 15 mins of being ignored i finally was served by this rude, miserable man, who was quite tall, goth looking with tattoos. When i got my drinks, they looked a bit flat and not lively, but the barman had already ran away and there was no one else to get hold off.
Will be coming back soon with family so i hope the customer service can be worked on a tad.

Good food spoilt by rude incompetent staff.
Took over 5 minutes and 3 members of staff to sort my discount offer. Manager eventually got it sorted I was given a receipt after I had given my card details only to be approached several minutes later to be told loudly that I hadn’t paid! Obviously this was embarrassing in front of customers and puzzling the matter was resolved no apology given just total silence as I explained.
Also I witnessed a large amount of mayonnaise that had been split on the counter being scooped up and put in the dispensers, not the most hygienic to say the least.
I’ve visited a few times and never been overly impressed but tonight did it for me won’t be going back.

The bar staff were slow and unfriendly, especially the tall barman who wandered around behind the bar looking like he’d rather be pulling his teeth out.
I’m afraid that I left in the end. Having queued fifteen minutes to get a drink, there was no way I was going to go back to the bar to try and buy another one.
It’s a popular pub because of the live bands, but with the attitudes of the bar staff and the extortionate price of a large glass of wine (£10.30!), I won’t be returning too often!

Used to be such a good place to go and eat now not the venue of choice in Chiswick so many better places to eat and drink.
Food quality has continued to go down hill from last chef left in 2023. Just nowhere near as good and so much more expensive.
Drinks quality similar recently with the draught selection nowhere as good as it should be.
Take today I decided I would give another try as it’s now March may have got better so checked online the menu and decided would have Chilly Nachos. Not the best idea as when I got in had first pint not the best and thought would order food with the next so went to bar and asked for the nacho sharer to be honest this was first mistake as maybe should have looked at the menu on the bar as there has been a change but no one updated online.
The price has gone up online it’s £12:50 for chilly machos. On the menu at the bar it’s £13 but this is just plane nachos. No chilly if you want that it’s an extra £3. If I had seen that would have gone somewhere I think would be worth paying for.
If you see attached picture the nacho was just enough for one and definitely not for sharing.
The only positive from today was nice to see some of the good staff are still there.
Nice place to go for a quick one but don’t stay long better places in Chiswick for food and drink.

This pub used to be the heart and soul of Chiswick. Now….food is average. Service is awful. Frequently made to wait more than 20 minutes just to order drinks. Staff really not interested in serving guests. Some staff frequently deliver short measures and refuse to top up.
I used to enjoy going here…. But there are better options in Chiswick

Visited this local for an anniversary and so wanted it to be perfect and supporting local businesses..
Great table inside main bar but the food was a let down.
£25+ for a Sunday roast on the expensive side.
At 230PM no lamb available
I had the duo Beef/chicken but without the giant Yorkshire pudding very little meat but plenty of veg. Asked for horseradish but there was none available. (theres a Sainsbury's across the road) ?
Staff very pleasant and accommodating.
Peroni nice and wines by the glass fine.
All in all okay but left me feeling try somewhere else next time.

We went to the George for a comedy night, which was really good fun. We enjoyed food as well, which was all lovely except the squid which was definitely over cooked. Hummus and triple cooked chips were yum as were the nachos

The service was great and attentive in general but after a positive start in the form of tender buffalo wings with blue cheese dip as a shared starter, I was dismayed to find a chewy sweet potato hash with Manchego cheese topped with an egg whose yolk had set and looked like it was past its prime. In contrast my husband’s extra fried egg to his chicken schnitzel was spot on - it felt as if they didn’t time it right and my dish was sacrificed while waiting for his to finish cooking. I mentioned it to the waitress who said she’d pass it on but no gesture of any sort. Call me picky but don’t use Manchego if it’s going to sit there waiting for other dishes to be ready. Not pleased at all as my first dining out experience after lockdown.

Someone needs to train the staff in how to provide a good customer experience. Whilst a customer is being served, it’s really rude for the barman to start a conversation with a local standing at the bar - or with another member of staff. Just rude. Why are these people not taught basic manners?

The tall blonde man working at the bar was racist towards us. While we were waiting in line to order, he didn’t pay any attention to us. He served five groups of people who came after us in line. When we were the last ones left, he left his post and started talking to his friend. Later, another group arrived, and he paid attention to them too. When I said that we had been waiting in line as well, he replied, 'I didn’t see you, maybe something’s wrong,' while shouting and rolling his eyes. After that, he ignored us again and directed his friend to assist us. After such a racist attitude, we didn’t want to stay and left without ordering.
