Mum and I visited yesterday, after deciding the cafe in the British Museum was a little busy and wondering round nearby for something different. The London Review did not disappoint. We ended up sitting on a shared table inside (bit of a shame that it's takeaway only outside) but had amazing service. As soon as we sat down a bottle... More

We had a very tasty lunch at this cake shop on Saturday - they don't only do cakes! It was excellent - I had the quiche with kale on the side - very yummy - just the ticket for keeping me alert during the afternoon! Speaking of tickets... we inadvertently dropped a rail ticket while paying for lunch, and the... More

Food and tea were delicious, but experience marred by unceremonious slapping down of plates and removal of the soup when we were not even close to having finished - was too stunned to reclaim it! The bill then arrived, unasked for, with a brusque 'We're closing'. Paying cash, I didn't even get a thank you. I assumed from all this... More

Friendly service and fresh fare that is simply delicious. Beautiful cakes and pastries in this understated cafe. I'm still thinking about the almond cake with citrus frosting and fresh pomegranate seeds! Customers were friendly too (one of the "regulars" gave up his table to accommodate our group of 4).

The cake shop is a good place to have tea/coffee/cakes. It's not that big but it serves decent cakes and drinks. I am a huge fan of the London Literary Review Bookshop so it's great to have a place to have a coffee after buying a book. It's a nice change to go to a place where there is no... More

This shop is seemingly a little gem tucked away in the Holburn area, with delicious seasonal food, seemingly with an eastern influence. Lovely cakes and teas and coffee. I know this place well and was a student in the school opposite for a year, buying my lunches here most days. The layout is quite peculiar, and can be difficult to... More

The place is usually heaving with noisy pretentious people so I avoid when visiting the adjacent brilliant bookshop. However, for the first time I obtained a table at lunchtime. The range of light snacks was fine with a range of veggie and vegan options. Staff are excellent on knowing the ingredients and adapting dishes. I ended up with pumpkin humus on... More

Lovely little cafe, not far from the British Museum, great choice of teas, delicious healthy food, staff very friendly and helpful. Previous reviews have mentioned that it can be hard to get a seat which is true but in the good weather they have seating outside otherwise if you do arrive at peak times then be prepared to wait for... Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
