Visited with my sister for lunch. The waitress was friendly, the food tasty and well cooked. No complaints! If I had to be a bit picky, I'd prefer to have the choice of sitting at a table with chairs as opposed to bar stools but a small thing really. It would just make it slightly more relaxing.

Hubby and I recently visited San Sebastian and bought Jose Pizzaro's Basque cook book. Inspired by the beautiful food we had experienced in both decided to pop in whilst nearby. Arrived around 4.30 pm and were advised they were shutting at 6 so could we order quickly. We did! However waiter who took our wine order then took his apron... More

So recently moved to the area and have read lots of excellent reviews about Jose. Even friends had said it's one of the best Spanish tapas restaurants in London. Even on a week night, the place was packed and we had to fight our way to squeeze into a corner. They didn't have enough seats so the 3 of is... More

Just been to this charming little tapas bar. It was early so getting a seat was not a problem, we were heading out but fancied a snack. What a tasty snack.. if in the area please go you will enjoy, very pleasant staff and the food was lovely. I only gave it 4 and the reason, I do think for... More

Went here with a friend and sampled a few things off the menu with varying results. Squid ink croquetas, sublime - crispy exterior with juicy chunks of seafood (lobster/langoustine?) inside. However calamari just so so and really small portion. Posts with duck egg, perfectly nice. Staff really nice and friendly. Over all a nice experience, though there is better value... More

Take a walk on lovely Bermondsey Street and if you are lucky, grab a seat at this wonderful, lively tapas bar! Food is wonderful - we tried the Iberico ham, tomato bread, patatas bravas, calamari, croquettes, padron peppers... Washed down with cold beer. Was so good we had to come back next day. Service is friendly and efficient. No bookings,... More

Put simply, the food is excellent. I deliberately go when it is at its quietest (as it opens or mid afternoon) so that I can enjoy the food without the bustle. I even took my 5 and 7 year olds because they love the pulpo, prawns and clams - not the cheapest of options for a lunch

Walking off Bermondsey Street you just know you are in for a treat. From the greeting onward it is exactly what Tapas should be. Inspired by the bustling tapas bars around La Boquería market in Barcelona Jose Pizzaro has got it exactly right. The street as well is perfect cosmopolitan, welcoming and uber cool. The fino sherry on offer is... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
