I probably first went to the original East London Cay Tre about a decade ago. It was a really simple affair - no frills - although it's been upgraded a lot since. The Soho version is smart and trendy-looking. It's popular too - we booked a couple of days prior to coming and there was a limited choice of time... More

Visited with 3 friends on a Friday night. After an hour wait for a table we were seated and the waiters were very friendly. The sharing platter starter was very tasty, however the mains were lacking a certain something. My cocktail was also overwhelmed by preserved lime and basically tasted like salt. However, it was a pleasant evening out.

Have visited Cay Tre for dinner twice and enjoyed it both times. It was also busy both times but enjoyed a drink at the bar and the table was ready even faster than they said it would be. Food is good, although by the second visit I was searching a bit for options as I didn't find the menu that... More

Recommended by friends, but I think the food here is not that excellent, just normal food, average. Do not expect to be excellent, just ok

Finally got to visit this place after hearing so much about it, and the food didn't disappoint (except for the starter). I ordered Ha Noi sweet potato shrimp fritter, as I was craving for it, but sadly it didn't meet my expectations, primarily because we were served undercooked regular potatoes rather than soft sweet potatoes.. The dip was very nice,... More

The place is relatively small, where tables are very close to each other so you kinda loose some privacy but it's ok. For starters we ordered Hanoi Sweet Potato Shrimp Fritter, which was a disappointment. I expected sweet potatoes, but not only got normal ones but also slightly under cooked.. Luckily, the main dish was very tasty - Bun xa... More

Cay Tre Soho has a good variety of Vietnamese dishes. The atmosphere is good. The place is small and tables are very close to each other but food is very tasty

Tastiest food I've eaten so far this summer period so I don't understand how some of the reviews state that the food is average. Granted the place was empty at 3.00 PM when we arrived but when the chicken wings came and we ate them, all three of us foodies, were SPEECHLESS with delight! This is not average food? Why... More

When places like this get a 3 star, I trust the rating system a bit less. They have such amazing food, friendly staff, good drinks, and where else in central London can you get Vietnamese food? The only down side is it's quite loud. But it honestly doesn't matter because whenever I bring friends here we just dig in the... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
