It was a great pleasure to go to The Blackfriar again after many years. This lovely arts and crafts building with its Henry Poole's reliefs was enough reason to make the trip worthwhile, but the ales available and service we received made for a very...pleasant evening.More

I love the Blackfriar because of its proximity to the train station, its unique decor and the professionalism and attention of the staff. The food is great, especially the pies and it is a mecca for tourists of the Art Noveau.

The Blackfriar is a very nice and characteristic pub in central London. The place is right next to the Blackfriars station. Fantastic building full of character. Had an excellent meal here, food was really good , reasonably priced. Staff friendly and service faultless. Perfect to...have lunch. Overall I recommend it.More

Overall good. Food tasty. Difficult for waiting staff to judge when we needed anything as we were out of sight and with table service only they had to pop their head round or we had to get their attention when needed; but no biggy.

I came here mid afternoon with my sister and niece for a quick drink on my way home. I downloaded the pub App on the train to Blackfriars Station as you can get special offers like a Gin and Tonic for £1.00. We sat outside...and were served my Michaela. She was Brilliant. She got us our G&Ts using 3 separate Codes and told us with the App we could also get 50% of mains. I ordered the Nicholson’s Burger with Chips and It was cooked to perfection and was really tasty. We all had a lovely afternoon and with Blackfriars Station literally next door I was home in no time. Many thanks to Michaela and I will definitely be back soon .More

I have visited this pub several times over the last few years and it is great. Don’t let it’s diminutive exterior effect your decision on whether or not to go in. It’s warm cost and beautiful interior is one of the best places to drink...and eat. Huge kudos to Marina who went out of her way to make our visit so pleasurable. She is a fantastic personality and clearly very diligent in her role. Thanks Marina and thank you BlackfriarsMore

Not a fussy person. My boyfriend (fisherman) mentioned there was something wrong with the prawn cocktail, I tried and it was horrible, smell was bad and the texture was of over warmed frozen prawn. Hey, this is London, we are aware that most of the...seafood is frozen but..... it's about how the place dealt with it. I took it back to the bar in the most apologetic manner because this is how I was brought up (DO NOT CAUSE ANY TROUBLE) and the lady said she would have sent it back to the kitchen. Thirty minutes later nothing happened...no sorry, no refund, no discount. She didn't even say sorry when I brought it back. I gave them convenient 30 minutes time to deal with it but ended up leaving disappointed. Shame cause it is nicely located pub and good food would be even more attractive. At the moment it's just very average pub, almost by the river (the oil for the fried food was also old but this seem to be the standard for London pubs)More

Booked a table for three on Saturday evening 7:30pm with my mates from primary & secondary school. Enjoyable evening supping pints of Nicholsons pale ale inside. Not too crowded and friendly bar staff with table service so felt safe. Didn't eat here but families with young...kids were dining. Good central location adjacent to Blackfriars station and would definitely return.More

There were no covid-19 safety measures in place. Went for some lunch with mates and didn't feel safe being in the premises with zero social distancing.

I wouldn't take kids to this pub at that time of night. It seems to revert to more of a drinking venue in the evening. We had a lovely (and good value) breakfast in Joes Kitchen and Coffee House which is not far away and is... More
