Lovely and open to street during the summer and fresh feel after the refurbishment. Excellent Sunday lunch, good for breakfast or to drop into for a glass of wine. One of my favourite local establishments which is always good any time of the day.

I stumbled upon this place while looking for a bright and quiet place to write in the afternoon. It's on a charming street and has a really gorgeous interior. I only had a glass of wine (or two) so I can't speak to the food, but the wine was good and the service was great! Plus they had wifi. It's... More

Unfortunately this restaurant has lost a bit of its identity with the recent refurbishment Once a cosy "in your friend's dining room" atmosphere, it's become a more generic restaurant. Food is good, their croquettes are amazing. It's a shame they crumpled under the pressure of being more streamline

Management response:

Hi Alex We are really sorry that you didn't like our freshen up of the restaurant. We wanted to make the space more light and airy and hoped that little elements of the old Root would shine on through .We still love dogs and welcome all shapes and sizes all times of the day, our cocktails including a house Earl... This was an awful and extremely poor experience unfortunately. We waited over 45 minutes for two very simple breakfast dishes. It wasn't even busy. Our waitress did apologise 40 minutes in to it - she had forgotten to put our order through. But the head maitre'd hardly cared. When the eggs benedict came out it was completely cold and no... We work very hard to ensure that our team deliver the best service and this clearly did not happen on that occasion. We have a great team and I will certainly be looking into this further. I would like to discuss this further... More

Visited here with a few friends after work on a Friday night. Let them know we were just having drinks and were sat at the front, away from the restaurant area. Ordered a few drinks and informed they would be put on the tab. Cocktails were great, large selection and well made, with attention to detail. Ordered some bar snacks... More

Called in on the off chance for lunch. We were warned that service might be a little slow as they were short staffed. However, we needn't have worried! Light, airy place, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere made this a great experience. Food was exceptional, the crab BLT, on nicely toasted brioche, was delightful. Smashed avocado with poached egg was... More

We had an amazing meal! The staff was super friendly and brought loads of treats to our dog. The food was delicious: especially the truffle Mac and cheese and the apple tart. Highly recommended! Lovely place and lovely people

Have been here a couple of times and although I would not rave about the food it is reliably good and feels fresh and original. Not the most exciting place but have always enjoyed it.

This was my second visit to The Henry Root since its re-opening and I was once again not disappointed. This time with family for lunch, the service was superb, the food perfectly executed - would particularly recommend the seabass - perfectly cooked with interesting and tantalizing accompaniments especially the goats cheese and blood orange! We only intended to have a... More

Staying in Chelsea

Neighborhood Profile
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.
