The Fox and Grapes comes into its own at this time of year. The room is comfortable, cosy and informally smart, with a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a Friday night party of 13 celebrating a belated birthday. The food comprises the usual pub staples - burgers, steaks, fish & chips but there are also other bistro-style dishes including a couple... More

We have really enjoyed the food here in the past, and felt that it was a cut above what other pubs in the area can offer. So much so that we persuaded friends to join us for a Saturday lunch. I chose the sea trout, which came with mushrooms and croquettes and a sauce. Everything was overcooked, so that my... More

We went for dinner at this place and were very disappointed. They charged like a wounded bull for food that was frankly terrible. Dishes had run out (we had an early sitting) and the food that did come out was of highly average quality.

I had the cheese board to follow which was fabulous and my husband had the gooseberry syllabub which he said was the best dessert he'd ever tasted. It's not cheap but you get what... More

Sunday evening supper. Busy and lively atmosphere even on Sunday. Big noisy high ceilinged main room with the visible kitchen off it and a smaller slightly quieter space round the bar. Friendly young inexperienced staff. In our view the food and service were 'pub with food' quality rather than 'Gastro pub' quality but some of the prices are decidedly upper... More

First time visiting this pub/restaurant on the common. Varied Sunday menu including Roast. A little on the expensive side but the food was very good and well presented. Would revisit and it's very popular so best book.

We booked all 3 rooms for 4 nights for the family to stay for our daughter's wedding. We've been here for lunch a number of times and always had a great experience. Liam and his team are excellent , they made us so welcome and were really interested in the wedding and family celebrations. Rooms are comfortable and quiet- was... More
