Being a confirmed Kenyaphile this place was heaven for me. Our host, Margaret, was fun and attentive, the vibe was friendly and bright, the food (tilapia, sukuma wiki with lamb and a starters platter to share was exceptional - especially the viazi karai which was cooked to perfection). If you love Kenyan food and haven't been - go! If this is all a bit of mystery and you are looking to try something new, this is worth a try. Warmly recommended.

I went here as a first date as it has been recommended for top quality Kenyan food. This was my first time trying this food. I tried a variety of foods I've never tried before . Mostly dry meats not really cooked in sauce , but sauce is available for the side. I really liked their small donuts too with ice cream ( you will need at least 2-3 per person). The customer service was very friendly ans polite , as was the owner. I would defo recommend!

The service left some to be desired. The young woman serving me was nice and friendly but could definitely be much more prompt. There were a couple occasions where failing to catch the eye of the server while waiting, I ended up just waiting with my hand up. They were some indulging of my relative naivety towards Kenyan food.

Being of Kenyan origin, I ordered from KK after reading their reviews. Unfortunately their food was not as authentic as portrayed & I suspect they have adopted more towards a western/ European taste which doesn’t accommodate for spicy tasty food that Kenyan food is known for. The kachumbari salad was just thick cut tomatoes & a few onion slices (£4.50) !! Normally that salad is cut finely & has a nice dressing on it. The fish in sauce was just tasteless!! Runny watery sauce. Chappos were ok. For the price paid I would not order from here again. I say that with much regret because I’m a proud Kenyan, .over £ 30 for fish , salad & chapatl. Not worth it!!!

This is a lovely restaurant. The decor is warm and bright, the owner and staff are really friendly and welcoming, and the food is fabulous. I had the goat ribs from the nyama chomo menu, and good grief, I never want pork ribs again. So good. My problem is that I want to come back and try everything else on the menu but I also only want to eat the goat ribs again, possibly every evening till I die. The kachumbari tomato salad was also lovely, as were the cassava chips. The menu is pretty short but that's fine because, goat ribs. There are veggie options which look really nice. ÂŁ50 for two with a beer each and very generous portions.

The food and friendly reception in this restaurant are superb. It has a focused, authentic menu with nyama choma as the star. Unpretentious, approachable and good value. The nyama choma (barbecue) is produced on a large open grill that gives the place a really convivial atmosphere which carries through to the clientele who were (at least when we visited) visibly enjoying themselves on a gloomy February evening. This is a neighborhood restaurant: it’s compact but covers all the bases - cocktails as well as food. Though naturally quite meat focused as a Kenyan restaurant there are veggie options too (githeri, of course). The cassava chips were perfect: crisp and dry on the outside and hot and floury within. We’ve not left England for two years, but this took us to another place for 90 minutes on a weekday.

We’ve taken the kids a handful of times to Kenya kitchen for lunch when we fancy some grilled meat. Never disappoints. Freshly grilled Kenyan style meats and sides. Great goat ribs and spicy chicken in particular. Very friendly service and the guys always make a real effort to charm the kids! Well priced too.

Warm welcome, tasteful decor, evocative of home. The nyama choma (ribs and shoulder) was delicious, soft and juicy. Took me right back to Nairobi. Well done and Asante sana.

Excellent food, we visited the place last night, We were welcomed by Rupak and his staff. They really are friendly indeed, we had Tilapia fish in sauce with ugali and greens, it was yummy. We also ordered goat spare ribs and they simply melted in our mouths. This place reminded me of back home, it has been a while since I had such quality food. We spoke to James, the chef, and congratulated him on his superb effort. Well done guys, I am definitely coming back !

Family owned business! Originally from Kenya, you know you are getting the real deal here. Visited this Gem today and I am SO happy we did! The vicinity was very, very clean. Actually they are 5 star rated by the Food standards agency, I always look out for this at restaurants. Staff were very welcoming and was always at your service, I loved the way suggestions were made and the way our food was presented to us. The most important thing I took away from this place was that it is Authentic Kenyan food with a restaurant presentation, the food is not slap dash and you can tell love and thought has gone into it. Loved how they incorporate the Indian community too. The restaurant owner (Margaret) is very nice, professional and will give you her undivided attention, even if it’s a general chat. She is open to suggestions and genuinely wants to know your thoughts. I’m coming back to this place! (Even if it is takeaway) for my favourite following; Lamb shoulder (hot) - Nyama Choma Kachumbari Kidney beans Skuma wiki (collard greens) - Margaret convinced me on this one! She will know why :) Chapati (OMG, very soft. Made to the upmost perfection) The meat is tender and the right seasonings used. Loved the background music, simple little details but effective. Child friendly... they have a kids menu and I loved too see there was a educational “Count to 10” in Swahili on the menu I think you can tell from the above I was really happy with our visit (and I can say the same for my partner). I really hope and pray all the best for this restaurant. A must visit and I can trust you will be back (Arnold Schwarzenegger style) If you don’t fancy visiting the restaurant, get on deliveroo etc it’s definitely worth it, can’t stress anymore.

Wonderful East African food, the flavours were amazing! The portion sizes were great, the meat was tender, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The service was brilliant everyone was smiling and friendly, my family and I had a great time and left with full bellies! I highly recommend that anyone who wants to try East African cuisine or get a taste of home comes here to eat. I’ll be returning to try the Brunch!

Amazing food! Everyone, including my Kenyan friends loved it. We will be back! Everything had great flavour. We ordered lamb, goat, chicken, fish, kales, chapati, ugali, cassava and fried potatoes (I'm not Kenyan but I went with quite a few Kenyans).

Having eaten at some of the so called top restaurants, they have NOTHING on this place. The menu is simple, but the food is the most delicious, mouth watering yummscallitious grub you will ever have the pleasure of devouring. I hesitate writing this as when it becomes so popular I won’t be able to get a table. Ken (the lovely owner) please remember me! I could eat here every day! Enjoy

Kenya Kitchen offers authentic Kenyan cuisine through a burst of succulent flavours and mouth-watering dishes. A spotless, spacious and welcoming environment, I have yet to experience anything but the very best service at this cultured cooking establishment. I would highly recommend the Sriracha Chicken wings and Spicy Potatoes as the flavours are just perfect.

Learnt about it from the media during national day celebrations for Kenya. Since I already knew about Kenyan food, I rushed a day latter to see for myself. Its a much better restaurant that Thatched Hut. More decent, great ambiance, great depiction of Kenya. I had chicken wings as a starter and thoroughly enjoyed it, well spiced. I had wet tilapia as well as goat meat, well cooked in proper appetising Kenyan way. The portions are good and really value for money. Good view of street and lots of light. Served by a courteous lady. I know my order was taken when the chef had not yet arrived and this was not disclosed to me. He was certaily late for duties and my food was certainly delayed. They took solace in the starter.
