Stopped for lunch on a flying visit last Sunday. Love the setting, decor, staff and food. Lovely bockwurst with sauerkraut, crispy onions and mustard. Good fries too, but would have preferred to have been given the choice as to whether I wanted the spice that was sprinkled on. The bottled drinks were delicious, I recommend the apple and cherry. It... More

I like the chopped currywurst, its not a resturaunt, its a take away, there are seats for maybe 20 people, but its in a very busy street right beside charring cross and embankment. You might well be lucky at times and get one of the few seats, but plan for using it as a takeaway. I recommend if you visit... More

Love it here! We enjoyed our quick out stop to refuel during the London prudential Ride free cycle. Great choice of sausages and the chips are great in fact probably some of the best you can have. The only downside is there's very limited seating and if it's busy you won't get a seat. Will definitely be back soon!

Good fast food German. Reasonable price for central London. Polite efficient service. Genuine German Meat supplied by Fritz is really good quality. If you are looking for value and taste whether its a quick snack or something more substantial you should give Herman ze German a try.

Being a lover of Bavarian sausages I have been a fan of this chain since it first opened its doors a few years ago. My most recent visit, last Sunday, was simply a triumph. On offer are three types of sausages: chilli beef, bockwurst and bratwurst (my personal favourite) served as sandwiches (on french-style baguette with fried onions and extras... More

Think dull day in (meant to be) summer. In London. Three meetings without any tea or sustenance. Then remember that Herman ze German is just around the corner and inwardly cheer. Ten minutes later I was sitting at a wooden bench in a small but buzzing cafe, having been able to WASH MY HANDS BEFORE EATING (!! how luxurious, this... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighborhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
