I visited for tea this afternoon with a friend. We had a very warm welcome by the staff. Sadly there were no strawberries for afternoon tea, but we had a lovely scone and tea. Such a lovely day for sitting outside and despite being so...More

When we're in the area of Southwark Cathedral, we typically stop here for lunch. The setting is comfortable, the food is well-prepared, and there are sufficient options to allow for choices. The format is cafeteria/buffet style. The prices are reasonable.

Don't go for lunch. I had lukewarm tortilla ( rubbery with just one small slice of red pepper) .It made me pull that face when you go "eeurgh" and everyone had to have a taste just so they could see how awful it was! Salad...More

Pleasant and peaceful spot with indoor and outdoor seating, for snacks, drinks and light meals. Prices are about what you would expect for the area. We were overcharged for our soft drinks, (which were clearly priced in the display cabinet), and had to have quite...More

Haven't been here in some time but this place is definitely not what it used to be. The hot food selection was very limited, the salad was just leaves with no dressing and the tortilla wraps were soggy. Such a shame, I remember they used...More

Very decent mint tea but the cakes etc were a little lacklustre - probably due to it being late Saturday afternoon. A group meal afterwards was OK - again somewhat lacklustre but nothing strained the purse strings. I'd go again for proper mint tea alone....More

I've been coming here for years but think there's been a change of company managing the Cafe. You have to wait for a very long time to be served (there's no table service) and if you're buying just a drink you have to wait behind...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest
