Description: The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff...
The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

Beautiful venue, good food and lovely staff

Arrived 30 mins early for pre booked table for 2, we were shown straight to our table and were the only customers (it was early) The building is fascinating, beautifully restored and furnished, luxurious but not stuffy or pretentious. We were there for the Groupon voucher. It was our 3 year celebration dinner and we were so looking forward to it. However, at arrival, they were not very welcoming. The food was a three course set menu that was quite average. I had the sea bream for mains and it was delicious I have to say. However, even after... More

An over priced 3 course meal with bland food. The night ended with the waiter telling us there's nothing coming, as we were trying to finish our bottle of wine. Mind you that this happened after just over an hour into our meal. Terrifying experience, never going back

Wonderful combination of food, service and setting. I still remember being blown away the first time we went by the building. And then the food and service were at the same very high standard. The attached bistro/bar next door is also brilliant.

I have been at Galvin quite a few times for business lunch and I love it every time. This time I dined with my mum for her birthday and she loved it. The whole experience was amazing, the staff was very attending and didn't let us ask for anything. We had duck terrine and mackerel for starters, and sea bream... More

We visited Galvin La Chapelle shortly after New Year on a Monday evening, choosing this as a venue to meet with our daughters, who were both working in London on that day. Although we had booked an early table, the restaurant was clearly busy and the décor and lighting gave it a warm, grand, yet minimalist feel. The food was... More

Having previously enjoyed a superb memorable meal we were really looking forward to going back. This time we had the 7 course taster with wines, Everything about the evening was lovely except for the wines. I have considerable experience having been a wine quality controller in my past. Initially the sommelier wanted to discuss the wines but as I became... More

Wonderful restaurant which does 3 course menu for under £30. Not many Michelin star restaurants offer that. And the food is wonderful.

Had the menu du chef as a late Xmas present and wasn't disappointed. The setting alone is worth the visit if you have never dined in a Victorian chapel! I had mackerel as a starter and sea bream as a main, both delicious. The dessert of grand marnier and orange mousse was a bit too sweet for my taste. The service... More

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighborhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
