A comfortable and airy dining room in an old chapel, the service was very nice and polite. However, the food disappointed hugely. We had booked a lunch deal so we were restricted to the set chef's menu but it was by no means a cheap lunch. Plain and uninteresting at best, a couple of things outright bad and one inedible.... Very good service and food by the Galvin Brothers, which gives a fine experience. If you can get a table 'upstairs' then you look up to a wonderful roof, and down over other diners. Both food and wine are spot on so this is recommended place to eat. It is on the higher side of prices but you are getting... More

This review is written in the context that this is an upmarket, Michelin star restaurant. Saturday night - full restaurant. Starters were good, they were without doubt the best part of the meal. Mains were just ok however nothing that really stood out as being outstanding. The Veggie options are not good and could be improved with such little effort.... More

Although set in an old building the atmosphere is modern. It is a very busy restaurant frequented by many people from the banking area enjoying a relaxing dinner. The staff are helpful and the restaurant was packed to the gunwales. It has a high reputation and this was reflected in the food. We felt that with so many people in... More

We came here for a good friend's birthday celebration. Arriving with high expectations I am happy to say they were surpassed. This restaurant justifies the great reviews it receives and we really enjoyed the food and decent portion sizes. Thank you also to our waiter Robert making this such a memorable evening. We will definitely return!

This is not Michelin star food. I was weaned by a friend before hand but ignored her warnings. I asked the waiter what was the best dishes he said the crab starter and the pigeon main are famous in London so I went for them. Nothing was tender about the meet. All the dishes even the cocktails lacked experience and... More

We arrived here just before seven in late November. Two of our party for four were using a Red Letter day voucher ( which was not cheap). It took almost twenty minutes to get a drink. The restaurant was quiet, lots and lots of waiting staff standing around so why the delay?...... we also had to ask what the voucher... More

Really love the service, food is excellent, go for what the waiters recommend! Did not enjoy the Plum Creme Brulee but the rest were really nice and I loved the olives too! Cheese Parfait with chocolate marquis is to die for!

We visited here recently with a colleague who was retiring, and we wanted to have a nice lunch. The location is around 5-7 minutes walk from Liverpool St station, tucked off the main road in a converted chapel. We opted for the 3 course set menu with a bottle of Sancerre. The highlight for me was the main course chicken,... More

Description
The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighborhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
