Popped in with hubby for a spot of lunch whilst in the area for a medical appointment.
The menu had a good range and staff were very attentive and polite. My hubby had a burger which he said was the tastiest burger he has had for a very long time and i had a Cesar salad with addition chicken which was delicious too . Spiked with anchovy and good parmesan cheese it was also the best salad I have had in a long time.
Funny enough I have an another appointment tomorrow and in January next year so we will see if this was a one off or if the standard is maintained.
A must visit if in the area. Well done chef and staff!

I walked in alone at 5.30 tonight for something to eat whilst staying in London on business. I have had food here several times before but when I came in the place was rammed. I thought I’d have to find somewhere else to go but the lovely young man behind the bar escorted me to a reserved table and said I could eat there because the party wasn’t due till 7:30pm. He also took all my order at the table to save me having to queue at the bar. I had the chicken burger and it was lovely.
Thank you for looking out for me.

We had a delicious meal and wonderful service here. Matt took very good care of us and was so kind and professional. He recommended the perfect ale and wine for our meals. He is a credit to this pub!
We had the fish and chips and the steak and ale pie. The haddock was tender and the batter was perfectly crisp. The chips were excellent. The steak in the pie was so tender and the gravy was very flavorful.
The friendly and lively atmosphere of this place also made for a fun evening out. We highly recommend The Butchers Hook and Cleaver.

Had lunch here with friends. I ordered the beer battered haddock and a pint of Fullers London Pride
I enjoyed the fish which was well cooked
I have had better pints of beer which was not well kept
When I went to the bar to pay I was shocked to see a service charge added of twelve and a half percent. I felt like saying "what service ?"The food was preordered and my drink was ordered at the bar. Nobody checked if everything was alright during my stay
I have not been asked before to pay a service charge in pub.
I responded by telling them to remove the service charge which they did

We were looking for somewhere to eat in the area around 5pm, and passed a few pubs that looked a bit noisy, before finding this place. It was a sunny day, lots of people having after work drinks outside. We went up to the mezzanine floor, which was much quieter. I had two tapas type dishes, my friend had a very fresh looking salad and the nicest onion rings I have ever had. Service was good. I would definitely recommend this place.

Had drinks pre and post a tour of St Bartholomew's great hall. Great traditional pub. Friendly attentive staff.
Had a couple of small plates however the chicken wings were so salty they left a burning sensation in your mouth. Best avoided. Did give feedback to a member of staff.

My first visit to the remodelled Butchers Hook. Its a subtle but great improvement with more eating and drinking tables and now introducing stools as well as chairs. The spiral staircase has been slightly straightened and up satirs has now a bar and a meeting room if needed. Where did the find the room? Food is still as good and the staff to a fault excellent. The Manager is very warm and welcoming
Defiantly recommend the watering hole just got better

Had an old boy's reunion and all at the Butchers Hook & Cleaver did us proud. A pub with bags of character and brilliant staff combined with a super choice of ales (Dark Star Hophead my favourite) and varied menu made it a memorable occasion. The Worshipful Brotherhood of Treefrogs will definitely be paying a return visit...

Visited here on 30/9. A great Fullers Pub with some excellent London Pride and some good quality pub grub. We had dinner here before strolling down to the Barbican Theatre. Serving staff were polite and engaging and the the food we had was well presented and tasty. Clearly a popular pub, as the early evening progressed it got very busy. Would happily return.

First visit in over a year due to the Covid situation. Nice to see some familiar faces behind the bar and the same very warm and engaging service. Food is slightly paired down but still very very good so with more of London re opening i am sure it will be just like old times very soon. I'll be back very soon

First time visit near hubbies work. Greeted and seated promptly, orders taken and drinks arrived quickly. However we then waited for around half an hour for our food. Before we had chance to query if it was on the way, the friendly barman came over, apologised ( they were very busy) and gave us two free drinks on the house for the wait. Food then arrived, fresh and tasty.
Great customer service , rectified an issue promptly, would definitely come here again.

Recently visited here with my father in law for a spot of lunch and got served by both a beautiful young girl Molly and the manager Gab. Their service was brilliant, both smiling and created a light hearted atmosphere. The food was great and served promptly with good check backs.
100% recommend!
Thank you guys

City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
