We eat here on a recent stay in London and actually this restaurant was the reason for our stay. We've eaten here before about 5 years ago previously and it lived up to how I remember it and is certainly one of my favourite restaurants. The steak is melt in the mouth and the service was excellent. It's worth asking... More

Went to London with my husband and he booked Gaucho's as a surprise for my birthday meal. The service was outstanding, very reasonably priced, very clean and tidy. Could not fault it. Every member of staff was on form and eager to help or top up your drink. Food was out of this world, had the medallion 3 steaks tasters,... More

We visited for our twin sons 31st birthday, the waiter and service was excellent. Five of us had a good meal but I felt that my food was disappointing as the starter 4 small prawns on a skewer £8.95 then steak (£30.95) it came with nothing so pepper sauce £3 chips £4.95, spinach £4.95 and so on. My steak was... More

went to gaucho riverside with another couple, decor nice , however , I'm 5 ft 10 and whilst found the chairs way to low and not that comfortable , and with that much cowhide around not sure why they are plastic which make you sweat! Food ok , steaks ok, but to be honest nothing to sing home about, Had... More

Fantastic food and service made for a great evening. I had mentioned at booking that it was my daughters birthday, to try to secure a window seat (the views are amazing). Not only did I get the table I wanted but also when dessert arrived the kitchen had written "Happy Birthday" around the plate and put a candle in the... More

Visited here for my partners birthday. Had an amazing meal! Staff were helpful, polite and attentive. The food was amazing. Best steak I've ever had, cooked perfectly. Had the brownies for dessert which was also amazing.

We could only get in at 8.15 in good weather so the view of London Tower Bridge was great. The food was quite good and the service attentive. The waiter was quite knowledgeable on the wine list, which is focussed on Argentinean wines (except for champagne). We had steak which was good quality and cooked as we had requested. Watch... More

Hands down, I had a steak here and it was the best one I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, melted in my mouth. Great service with a waiter the recommended a wine that went perfect with our meal. Definitely the perfect place for a birthday dinner!

I went here with my boss and a colleague. We arrived at 12pm so we had a choice of tables. Nice decor, a little cliched I would say (much like the whole concept). Staff fine, maybe too efficient as I felt I was being rushed. We shared a meat/cheese platter then we all had burgers which were nice.

My friend and I enjoyed two superb steaks at Gaucho last night. Expert advice given by the knowledgable waiter on recommended cooking for different steaks. A fabulous Malbec too. Busy, but we got a table late. Rather uncomfortable chairs if you are six foot.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
