This place is down the most interesting alley, like out of a movie. Even before we got there I liked it! We were there for a birthday party so had a private room which was big enough to move about and visit, and quieter than the pub side was on the last Friday of the month - i.e.- payday. But... More

I checked the location on the map and looked at my bill and this is it. The place was alright and the staff was observant enough. It was not busy at 16:00 but started to fill up as we left. It was good, nothing spectacular but not bad.

Th team at Davy's could not be kinder and more welcoming. We had lunch for 10 in the Board Room to celebrate a friend receiving an MBE and the team treated us all like honours recipients. Brilliant unobtrusive service, delicious food and as ever superb wine, I love the Davy's White burgundy and really brilliant value for money.Everything we ate... More

Dear Cathy Thank you very much for your kind words. It was a pleasure to host such a special luncheon and I'm glad we played a small part in what was a memorable day. As you mentioned the White Burgundy is a lovely wine and one of St James best sellers. Eating in the Board Room would only have added... More

We met up yet again in the bowels of St James at Davys. You plunge down the stairs from Crown Passage into a world of tailored suits. I have previously remarked on the atmosphere which is particularly hectic as those from offices around fill the time before their trains take them back out to the suburbs. That's exactly why I'm... We arrived late lunchtime on Friday and only discovered when we were about to order that they had run out of burgers and, allegedly, it was not possible to make any more. By this time we already had ordered our drinks and had arranged for some friends to join us. We did stay for eats and my steak was OK... More

We had our work Christmas lunch here. There were about 15 of us and we booked the 'semi-private' area. Overall, it was all very nice; service was prompt and the food was good. Some music would have been nice as it was a bit quiet. The underground venue is very cool.

I went there for lunch with a colleague. We had a perfectly decent lunch and wine and had a nice afternoon. We were not in a hurry.

Had lunch here recently whilst meeting up with friends I hadn't seen for a while. The food was at best average and the choice poor, together with high prices. The staff were all very friendly and the vaults interesting.

I had initially sent this review directly to the manager at Davy's and never received a reply which I feel really goes to show the poor emphasis on providing good customer service! Other colleagues have recently also recounted similar experiences in Davy's. There are plenty of other good dining experiences at a fraction of the cost in St. James's. I... More

Food was ok services was wanting to say least. Took nearly 20 minutes to get the wine list to The only time we got service was when we went looking for someone to serve us. Description
A short stroll from Green Park Tube station in Crown Passage, Davy's at St. James's is an atmospheric underground wine bar, with vaulted ceilings and lots of historic wine-related artefacts. The menu majors on great British classics using only quality ingredients from carefully chosen suppliers. The award-winning steaks from Donald Russell are firm favourites with regulars, accompanied by wines from an impressive list which is drawn from the vast Davy's cellars. For those who prefer their craft beers, the ever-popular Old Wallop is still drawn into pewter tankards. The private rooms are perfectly suited for a private dining experience, meetings or drinks receptions.

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
