I was dining with friends and arrived a few minutes before opening time on a chilly day but I was welcomed inside anyway and seated. Lovely views across the Thames to to South Bank. The waiting staff took my jacket and were mindful without hovering. My friends arrived shortly thereafter and we had a lovely meal: they had the ribeye... More

I must admit I was slightly disappointed ... perhaps because I didn't feel the restaurant lived up to its Trip Advisor ratings. The food wasn't bad at all (my Malva pudding was brilliant ... long time since I have had one of those!). Unfortunately the restaurant was only half full and I thought the wine list was a little limited... More

Heard about the Friday night £20 Steak & Wine Special from a friend and decided to give High Timber a try. After having a quick look at the full menu and receiving some personal recommendations from the owner, we changed our minds. We ended up with 3 courses of pure taste sensation! I started with the venison tartar and my... More

We had a standing dinner here and enjoyed some reasonable south African reds as well as very nice little plates of different specialities, all of them quite well presented. Nice dinner overall

I have visited this restaurant many times and the food has always been exquisite. The presentation is always aesthetically pleasing and the food is always delicious. The service at High Timber is amazing; the staff are always pleasant and your glass is never empty. I have never had a bad visit at High Timber and would recommend this restaurant to... More

What a great surprise! I expected a basic steak restaurant but instead this is quality cuisine. I had the venison tartare - immaculate, my wife a gorgeous salad with biltong. We both had superb steaks, but the great surprise was the exceptional cheese room and delicious dessert wine. Service was very friendly and genuinely helpful and we left feeling very... More

Stumbled upon this hidden restaurant and had a great food experience. Excellent service, my friend and I insisted on seating outside and they accommodated us. The wine list is impressive and so was the food. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful, warm welcome by the owner Neleen, whose service remained attentive, without being obtrusive, throughout the evening. Her wine knowledge and her unbelievable passion for it blew us away, absolutely amazing. Food was excellent, couldn't fault it. High Timber is a little gem in a big city, we will be back.

I was taken here today, 27th October 2016 for a midday lunch as part of my birthday celebration week. Fab. The staff are ace, friendly and professional with an eye for the detail. The stellenbosch wine is spot on. For a casual lunch the jordan merlot is perfect. The restaurant is lovely with a decent view of the thames. But... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
