I chose this restaurant for a special birthday treat for my friend. I lived in Italy for 8 years so was looking forward to trying"homemade, fresh pasta" after reading all the reviews on TripAdvisor. I wasn't expecting the restaurant to be busy as it is...in the city which is notoriously quiet at the weekends. We ordered Burrata and Prosciutto for a starter. What came up was just that, a ball of burrata surrounded by prosciutto. No oil, no dressing, no presentation. I had to ask the waitress for some bread, oil and balsamico. The prosciutto was nice and sweet but the burrata was nothing to write home about. For main course, my friend chose her favorite "Tagliata" whilst I wanted to try the fresh pasta, so I plumped for the butternut squash and truffle tortellini. For those proficient with Italy or Italian cuisine, Tagliata, is a prime cut of steak, cut into strips and served with rocket, parmesan and balsamic vinegar. What was served up was a 1cm thin steak, with what can only be described as raw Chinese stir fry vegetables with some parmesan shaved on top of the salad to accompany it. My tortellini was equally disappointing. Thick and floury pasta, overpowered with oversweet butternut filling and not a hint of truffle in sight. I managed to eat one and a half before I gave up. After mentioning this to the manager, to her credit she did apologise and we were not charged for the Tagliata. We are going to have the panna cotta for dessert but based on the first two courses we gave this a miss. I can only think that reading the rest of the reviews, which is why I chose this restaurant in the first place, the restaurant is used to a high turnover of city clientele throughout the week so everything is fresh and in stock. A very disappointing meal and a restaurant I sadly will not be recommending to my friends.More
