Probably one of the best if not the best fish and chips in London I've tried. The fish (I had the cod) is delicious and full of flavour. You can taste the freshness of the fish. Their chips are mouth watering good and very moreish, you've been warned! A bit on hand pricey side, but in all honesty, worth it.... More

The Nautilus being closed -- I searched out an alternative; & was recommended the Sea Shell ! The setting is trendy, the prices more so !! But although good - that is all I can say: but then again, when you have tasted the 'Ambrosia of the Gods' - just WHAT can compare ?!!!!

The atmosphere and service really is second to none. Its a pleasure to order a common take away food but have it done properly. Unlimited amazing chips cannot be beaten which is the positive. Unfortunately the fish was dry on one our courses and the other was coated in so much breadcrumbs it was hard to find fish. They did... More

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. We were going to start with the soup, but the waiter advised us that the soup of the day (cauliflower & potato) was much better. He seemed to suggest that the fish soup varied from day to day and that wasn't so good that day. The other soup was indeed good. We... More

I visited today at just after 5pm and reserved a table. I thought the chips and batter were a little below the standard I would have expected from a restaurant with such a good reputation. The chips were rather dry and seemed to be kept hot and the batter not as crisp as expected. Otherwise, the service was excellent and... More

It is the local fish bar/restaurant which has good reputation in the past and I must say have had a lovely rally from there before... so I'd say for this time that we went... the chef could have done better....as for the take aways...a superb deal but I will try again....in the long future for a talented cooked table meal... Visited the takeaway recently (there is also a restaurant). The battered cod was tasty and a good portion size. The chips were less than ordinary. The portion size was big (even for a regular size) but there was little to no flavour. Have eaten in the restaurant before and liked it. This time, not so much.

This has been a London landmark as long as I can remember. They have maintained a high standard. I was amused that Amelia declared aged 7 that she prefers the haddock in batter cooked in ground nut oil to the cod. We are lucky to have this in the neighbourhood.

I went at lunch time. The staff are friendly but the system for ordering was a bit chaotic. For 9 pounds, the "special",you get a large portion of battered haddock, large chips and a small drink (diet coke). The fish and chips could have been cooked a little longer, so that they were crisper. But they were both tasty.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighborhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighborhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
