The Ritz offers a very average afternoon tea, there are definitely better places in London to spend your money. Don't let the name fool you. While the surroundings might be pretty the service is not. Tea service is provided by a hoard of older gentleman waiters who have clearly been working at the establishment for many years. Experience you would... More

Came to The Ritz with the whole family as a celebration of various events, we had Afternoon Tea with Champagne, on arrival we were amazed by the hotel, the staff were all so helpful and friendly, they pulled our chairs out for us and placed our napkins on our lap, we chose our teas and they were brought to our... Had fabulous afternoon tea. This was a 50th birthday treat for Four of us from aged between 16 and 78. Excellent experience from start to finish. All the staff were wonderful from the doorman who was happy to take photos for us and be photographed with us to the very attentive waiting staff. Food as excellent, lots of sandwiches (salmon... We have been looking for new venues to celebrate each other's big birthdays, in tandem with the brilliant treats our children arrange for us. I have tried to combine my treats for my wife with great teas in the famous hotels, including the Mount Nelson in Cape Town, the sister hotel Reid's Palace in Madeira and her 70th in the... More

My friend and I decided to go here for a treat as we lovey afternoon tea and thought this would be the pinnacle of afternoon teas. We were not disappointed. The main thing that stands out and what I feel you pay the most amount of money for is how breath-taking the room is that you have it in. The... More

Having sampled many London Hotels, and outer London Hotels for Afternoon Tea,. I have been to the Ritz 4 times in the last few years. The ambiance was excellent. The poor quality of the Scones, and not being offerred more hot tea,And found it rather strange to have 5 cakes between 4 people. It also felt rushed. It left a lot to be... We booked for afternoon tea about 4 months ago, for my 40th Birthday and my Husbands 50th Birthday. It was everything we thought it would be. Staff were attentive and pleasant. The sandwiches were delicious and the clotted cream scones freshly baked and still warm. We had ordered in advance the Traditional Fruit Cake as a Birthday cake, which we... More

Arrived at 3pm to be shown to our table in the cosy corner by the fountain and opposite the piano and the harp so that we could enjoy our scones and tea whilst listening to beautiful music. A must for all to try at least once.

The attentive waiters, the piano playing in the background and the especially good tea, cakes, scones and sandwiches all contributed to a lovely time. Catered easily for vegetarians and we had a long, relaxed, unhurried experience. The champagne just added the finishing touch.

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
