Came here for a Christmas party the food was horrendous. I give my cat better meals than this on a daily basis. The pub itself is a soulless place. We were in the container upstairs in a private room which made the experience bearable..... staff...were fine and efficient, but what a rip off for the food. My turkey was just basically a fat slab of Bernard Matthews packet turkey slice. You would have thought stuffing was becoming extinct the way they rationed it with a tiny medallion.More

Decided to go to the Merchant for our Xmas party... We've booked an area for 30 people, end up in a corner of the pub which wasn't even suitable for 15 people... We asked while doing the reservation if table service was going to be...available, even at extra charge, we were told so. We got in and staff said the same but no one was ever at the floor, I asked one of the glass collectors and she said quite rude "No, we can't!" and just left. I personally set up the tab and requested the staff not to allow everyone order from that tab if myself or my manager were present, which did not happen, they served whoever said the tab number... Dirty prosecco glasses, warm wine glasses...More

I came here for someone's retirement drinks. It was all rather bland and average. Nothing stood out as special. I thought the drinks were expensive, paying nearly £8 for one and a half pints of beer. It's the sort of place you go when invited...but wouldn't return otherwise.More

My partner and I, being of reasonable lazy attitude and congratulating ourselves for actually sticking to a plan and going out on a Sunday afternoon, decided to visit The Merchant for some lunch whilst we waitied for our film showing at the local cinema. We...were interested in trying the burgers that were advertised on the menu in the front window however, we was informed that they don't serve these on the Sunday menu. We inatead ordered some drinks and some picky food and were surprised thatba pint of cola and a pint of lager came to £9.25 The service was not terrible and the lady behind the bar was as helpful as she could be. The food (tripple cooked chips and Mac n cheese Croquettes) were okay however the latter did not taste of much. Would be willing to return if only to see if our original menu choice, was better.More

We had a lovely time outside by the water having pre dinner drinks. It’s a pub so one has to order inside and bring the drinks outside. They are many outside table to choose from.

awesome place to stop for a drink. loved everything but the price. it is a little bit pricey but understandable since it is in Canary wharf just by the channel. other than that. lovely decor, outside seats.

Large pub with good selection of beers, but I went there specifically for the short end rib. Was expecting slow cooked melt in the mouth BBQ beef, but was served something resembling a giant beef jerky. Was so tough I struggled to cut it, I...chewed each piece for some taste but was too tough to swallow so plate was left full of chewed meat. Any chef that cooks a piece of meat that badly needs a new career. Awful awful mealMore

Visited Canary Wharf for our first time. Lovely location and atmosphere. We were exploring the area and as The Merchant looked a nice place we decided to stop here for lunch. Sat outside, which was a super location. Sat there chilling and ordered food/drink. We...opted for the chicken burger and chips, which was very nice. The only negative thing we have to say about this place is the waitress. She never smiled once and didn’t speak a word! We said thank you when she brought the cutlery out, we said thank you when she brought the food out and we both said thank you when she took our empty plates away. She didn’t utter a word/acknowledge us and not even a smile. Great place, shame about her attitude, which for that we would not return. What a shame.More
