My friend and I visited Sardine recently for a mid-week catch up and admittedly the 2 courses for £20 offer. Having recently become vegetarian I was slightly dubious about how much choice I would have in a French restaurant. But the food was brilliant. My...More

Enjoyed this. Used to live/work in France but don't eat much French food here as find most French places in London overpriced and lacking in soul. This place was fairly priced, and the wine was only night-time robbery. On the soul front, ultimately it's a...More

Weird location but easily accessible. We had the perfect Friday evening meal. Sardines to start, onglet for main, and rhubarb tart for dessert. This small restaurant never fails.

This restaurant is small and you could walk pasvt without een imagining the excellent food and drinks available. We tried some offerings in all categories that were unfamilair to us and rejoiced that we had been adventurous. Four of us tried a variety and everyone...More

I’d been to Sardine when it first opened and was immediately hooked. I went back a year later, on another business visit to London and it only exceeded my fond recollection. The other night I went with my daughter and her friends for a celebratory...More

This small French restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The food is delicious and there is a lovely ambience inside. And it really is great value too. Well worth the short walk from Old St or Angel. Get yourself down there!

A small comfortable and relaxed restaurant. Went for the set 3 course menu which had a small range of choiced but were all good. Three course meal (with quite a lot of wine) came out at £40 a head which was good value. The service...More

Couldn’t make Sunday brunch where there is a tempting offer of a the addition of an egg to pork belly, sausage and beans to make a ‘breakfast’ cassoulet with a Bloody Mary for £17. So as a consolation prize I went for the inaugural Monday...More

I had been looking for somewhere special to take my partner for dinner tonight when I stumbled across Sardine. It’s obviously a top restaurant, but what surprised me was that they serve takeaway sandwiches at lunchtime. I work around N1, and lunch can be a...More

Great atmosphere - arrived at 20:00 and by 20:30 the place was full. Informal seating with an open kitchen. Prix fixe menu finishes at 19:00, but the a la carte menu of 5 starters, 5 mains (2 fish, 2 meat and 1 veggie) is ideal...More

Hi Louise, it is half way between Old Street and Angel tube, about a 10-15 minute walk from each. It calls the area Hoxton but I'd call it Islington. No garden but it does have an art gallery next door!
