This place used to be great as a cheap eats spot, but they're trying to go more mid-range now. The food hasn't changed at all and service is still iffy, so the higher price is definitely offputting. Still a decent place, but there are better options in the area.

Summary The food was in parts very tasty, but in others not so great. I did not realise it at the time but the morning after I realised the amount of salt in the food must have been vast. Food Ordered a sizzling beef dish and crispy duck that were extremely tasty, however the chicken satay was so so. The... More

New owners and great new menu, good quality fresh ingredients and very busy with Chinese which is a good sign, good sized portions and reasonable priced. Well done as no other good Chinese restaurants in the area and better than most in China town.

Not the most spacious restaurant but very good food at a reasonable price. Friendly staff too. Dishes with rice will be served together in one bowl so if you like your rice separate then probably not the place for you.

Just too much Chile on one dish, and too bland on another, not nice. Adding 10% service charge added insult to injury. No wonder it was empty, avoid. Has changed name also.

As always, the food was excellent -- VERY reasonably priced -- and the staff and service was great. It's always good to go somewhere you're made to feel welcome, and The Tall House never disappoints. Wonderful food at exceptional prices!

I had a lunchtime special from this place consisting of soup and main course of sweet and sour chicken and rice for £5.95, You get what you par for.

This was our usual joint every Friday. We ordered the Singapore Noodle with the Chicken Sweetcorn soup. The noodles were one of the best Singapore noodles that is until the flavour became bland. I think the refurbishment has cut into their budget and into the quality of the food now. Service charge is automatically added and the menu is misleading... More

Granted it doesn't look the most attractive place from the outside, but the service and, above all, the food more than make up for that. I tried the Thai green curry and was warned that this was a very spicy dish. That for me was already a sign that I was on to something good. And it was perfect. Also,... More

Had dinner here one night when craving chinese food. They do a nice job with the meals. Very good selection and food size portions. Service was a bit slow as the manager was a bit busy, but she was very responsive and the fiod was good.

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
