Visited Il Fornello last night after receiving a Groupon voucher for Christmas. Had a lovely meal and wine. The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful.

Really pleased to find this small independent restaurant still going, as we noticed a few changes to shops & restaurants on Southampton Row since our last stay here a few years ago. Delicious food & excellent service - very good value for money.

I'have been there in these Christmas holidays and I found it very different from the previous times. Everything is bad: service, food, waiting time, etc. It's a pity but I will not be there anymore.

This is my third visit to Il Fornello over the past few years and it is always just the same. Friendly, very helpful Italian staff, nice atmosphere and great food. I was en route to Euston and stopped in for a quick pizza. I wasn't disappointed, the pizza was terrific. Genuine Italian with a great rocket salad on the side,... More

food could be better in some ways though the abundant vegies served with the meat dishes are very welcome. very friendly saff and good wine list. generous selection of homemade desserts and fresh fruit salad. overall very pleasant and much better than the nearby Verdi.

An average Italian restaurant. A reasonably good meal but not worth travelling miles for, satisfactory. the service was good but the wine was a bit expensive.

Friendly people good front of house. Sadly lacklustre pizzas and calzone with skimpy content. Deserts were just ok but not special. We were offered a comp liqueur, as I said nice people. Not worth the bother of returning to.

Il Fornello has seen its day. The cook that use to be a staple has gone and needless to say the excellence of the past has also suffered. The food is average and the wait staff is trying but the vivacious of the place is missing.

Average Italian food. Reasonably priced for London. Average house wine. I visited regularly and they appear to have had problems retaining chefs which made the food quality a hit or a miss.

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighborhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
