Have to agree with most of the reviews on here, limited good restaurants in Ealing (mostly chains serving mediocre food), The Walpole in contrast was local, charming and excellent.... Read one review here that talked about "poor food" pretty sure they must have been somewhere else, I agree with Marco PW this is the place to come for great food.

We have been here a number of times, and the menu is always simple but varied. Great vegetables, not over cooked. Martinis to die for and great wines. However the portions are very large - many people take food home. I would prefer to have smaller portions and pay slightly less. This is a small restaurant, run by the owners,... More

Yet another great meal. Unlike your typical local restaurant these guys not only know service, they know good cooking and ingredients. The straightforward menu means you've a great choice, and if you are like me that includes traditional UK meat breeds, and proper English Cheeses. The ice cream is awesome. The only place I have found in Ealing worth visiting.

A little gem - unpretentious setting, great food, warm and friendly service. Only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday and has limited tables so you need to book. (Day time The Walpole is a café with a completely different menu, this review relates to the Friday/Saturday evening restaurant) Portions are huge so you need to arrive hungry and taking... More

The service was friendly and attentive. Aside from that, there's no way this deserves the high ratings it has received on here. The menu is limited and unusual. The portions are massive. The quality of the food is poor. The feel of the restaurant is like a low budget hotel or a standard cafe. Compared to the other restaurants around... More

Lovely (Couple) run Resturant. Yummy, satisfying food and lovely deep red wine's. Food portions are generous.....so I ended up with lunch the next day too, which was handy as I had drank a glass or two more of the red wind than I possibly needed and the prospect of cooking the following day was unappealing to say the least... The... More

I'd recommend to everyone this lovely place. Food is absolutely delicious and portions hugest ever. After having the main I couldn't finish the dessert I was so stuffed. People who works in there are lovely too. I wish I could go back soon

BIG portions and very rustic cooking. We had lamb and it was, I dare say, the best lamb I've ever had. Highly recommend this place!

Great welcome from the patron who made us welcome straight away. Husband was the chef who did a great job as the restaurant was pretty full by 8. Safer to book as only open in its restaurant guise Friday and Saturday. Generous amounts of delicious bread with proper butter should have given us a clue to the generosity of portions.... More

Another amazing evening of culinary delight at the Walpole! The homemade cauliflower soup with accompanying crumbed florets and delicious bread was delicious. One of my group had the 'Tagliatelle with chicken livers in masala ' starter which was equally very good. I can never resist the slow cooked Romney Marsh lamb with glazed carrots and creamy colcannon mash. The homemade... More

The Walpole was established in 2001 and serves Dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. We are fully licensed. Marco Pierre White (the first British chef to be awarded 3 Michelin stars), interviewed in the Independent, said that The Walpole in Ealing is his favourite restaurant. The Evening Standard also named us one of the best places in West London. Our dinner menus change weekly using seasonal produce from Smithfield Meat Market and New Covent Garden, Nine Elms. We use Romney Marsh Lamb from Jamie Wickens, Winchelsea Beach, East Sussex. Our latest menu can be found on our Facebook page each week. For tables of 6 or more we require credit card details, and reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of £26.95 per person for any no-shows or if the cancellation is made less than 48 hours before the booking.
