Good food but seriously overpriced and overrated. Average at best. Friendly staff but for 15% service added to your bill.

Average food, reasonable service, but unrealistically high prices. Their reputation is definitely overrated. Will not return again...

The food is good but boy oh boy is the service shockingly bad. You can only have the table for 1hr 30mins which the waiters will make sure you won't forget as they will start getting quite intense after the first hour - especially if you are done with your meal and just enjoying your drink. Overall, I don't recommend... More

On arrival the greeting waitress will direct you to Royal China in the next block. This after all is the Royal China CLUB. Many of their customers obviously don't look like they should be eating there or able to afford the prices as I witnessed for 10 minutes waiting for my companion. The dim sum was not memorable. So few... More

The food was sometimes good, but too often fairly standard fair at inflated prices. But the wine - really not good at all, and very expensive for what it is. The total bill was high, and patently not worth it. There are better and cheaper places.

Having been to the other Royal China on a previous visit to London we were tempted to go this time to the "Club". We knew it was a little more expensive, but we're not prepared for the truly exhorbitant prices. And prices which were not reflected in either the quality or the quantity of the food. As a starter we... More

Haven't found better quality Chinese/Oriental food anywhere outside of Hong Kong. Not cheap, but you get the quality you pay for. Delicious!

Coming from a background based in Hong Kong, it's often hard to find a restaurant that delivers the quality I am so luckily accustomed to. I can safely say this is the best tasting oriental food I've had outside of hong kong, some dishes even surpassing their counterparts. Not cheap by any means, but if you want quality, here is... The staff are so cold and unsmiling it's almost a joke! We tried in vain to catch the eye of our hostess only for her to swerve at the last minute to take the order of later arrivals, who were obviously known to her. We waited a long time for food with some dishes coming only when half the party... More

This superb restaurant exposes the problem with following user ratings; when you look at what is supposed to be rated as a better establishment by Trip Advisor contributors the ratings make little sense- see my Elounda restaurant ratings for example. Here we had excellent seafood Dim Sum, a superb cod dish, mushrooms in chili sauce, spinach and Pak Choi: all... More

Staying in Marylebone

Neighborhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighborhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
