We had no idea this restaurant overlooking the Thames was part of a chain, even after eating there. Service was attentive, food was delicious. We had a lovely, filling lunch for two -- five meze, flat bread, and a glass of retsina -- for less than £35, not including service.

My daughter-in-law and I had an amazing meal here last Tuesday evening. We were lucky to get a table, as although it was a week night, the restaurant was very busy. We had amazing dishes - I have spent a lot of time in Cyprus and count myself as a Cyprus-like Greek food lover. The dishes were piping hot (when... More

The first thing we noticed was that it didn't feel like a chain restaurant. With live music and a bustling atmosphere on a Saturday night, it felt like we were on holiday and had stepped into an authentic Greek restaurant! The service was good, and our food arrived relatively quickly. We enjoyed the pork souvlaki, but found some of the... More

Went back because we felt it needed a another chance .Maybe it was just a bad day when we visited last time as this time the toilets were very clean.Or maybe this feedback does work for the better .Anyway we are pleased and will go back to our favorite south side eating hole

We visit London regularly as a family as we have Merlin passes we can use at the Eye and madame tussauds and Thorpe. We always go to TRG bankside as it really is excellent value for a central London eatery. The food is always excellent quality and the staff are amazing. I habe messaged them several times to try and... More

We chose the real greek for a xmas lunch for 12 people-they were pretty flexible on numbers and times. Chose the party menus-which were fine-greek beer was good but the house red wine nothing to write home about-food quality was decent but could have done with a couple more dishes. Price was about £30 per head including service/drinks-pretty reasonable for... More

'Pleasant' is the operative word.Often delicious freebies are served outside to passers-by. Inside it can be packed at times due to the huge, passing tourist trade. However, the service when we were there was sharp & the food good, pricey though,as it caters mainly for those visitors to our shores who seem quite happy to pay a little more than the locals who stay... A group of 7 adults and 2 small children arrived and were made most welcome. The children were accommodated together with a pushchair. Food was delicious, plentiful and reminded us of Cyprus. Staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The bill, with drinks was a lot less than other places I've eaten at in London. Would highly recommend... More

The Real Greek is not only a must for anyone visiting London but is also a favourite among Londoners themselves and at Bankside, we pride ourselves in providing our customers with a wide variety of the finest quality of freshly cooked Mediterranean food.
Perfectly located next door to the Globe theatre and only a few steps from the Tate Modern, Bankside is in an ideal spot for any occasion. Again serving the authentic Mezedes, Souvlakis and Sharers, our venue has plenty to offer for both business and pleasure. Being situated on the banks of the River Thames, this restaurant draws anyone walking past and we do recommend you make a booking.
We have live Bouzouki Music every Friday & Saturday evening from 7:30pm

Staying in Southwark

Neighborhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
