After reading many reviews I was expecting amazing Japanese food. We were four and ordered many plates to share. I must say I found everything quite average, not very good. The service was really ok for that kind of restaurant. It is very cheap though so putting things back into context, it's an ok restaurant, quick service and varied card... More

Had lunch on a Saturday, booked a table because otherwise it is difficult to get in especially in the evenings. Food is great, good quality sashimi, chicken and rice portion is big and really tasty, bento box is also big for one person so can be shared with something else as side, and sushi salmon and avocado tempura (outside tempura)... This place gets busy but the food is good and service efficient! Enjoyed a few of the tempura sushi which were delicious, as were the gyoza. Will be back to try other dishes. Reasonably priced given the quality

We had table booked for 8.30pm on a Friday evening, unfortunately we were running late due to traffic and parking issues, when we arrived we explained the situation to one of the waiters and was told to wait by the door and he will speak to the manager, after 5/10 minutes nothing happened so I approached the manager and told... Positives: fantastic japanese food Negatives: dreadful apathetic service with mandatory service charge, hideous mouldy unclean toilets Would go again just for the meal though.....

Arrived without booking about 6.30 had to wait approx 15min for table, food arrived quickly and was delicious. Staff friendly and efficient. Ordered a beef teriyaki and chicken noodle dish both fresh tasty and great value for money.

She goes there very often as it has good prices and the quality of the food is nice! It was my first time. It was super busy. I found it very tasty, specially the udon nuddle soup with prawns. The chicken teriyaki, which I was told is their signature dish was just "okay" from my point of view.

I've been going to Taro for years when I've been working in London and the food is always freshly made and delicious. It's packed at lunch and if you're on your own you might have to share a table. A main course and green tea is usually just about £10.

Mainly due to the awful awful staff that served us...this has now become my least favourite Japanese restaurant in Soho. Trust me...it used to be my favourite. Terrible miserable staff have completely ruined Taro. Such a shame. They've lost a long time customer.

Dined here a couple of times. Both leisure and business. Staff are attentive but not 3* Michelin. Service was efficient and quick. Food is decent. Not amazing and not bad. Lacks consistency. Depends on who's making what. I ordered the same ramen, miso ramen, on a couple of occasions and they were good and decent. Sometimes, quality lacks consistency. The... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
