I've been going to Taro for years when I've been working in London and the food is always freshly made and delicious. It's packed at lunch and if you're on your own you might have to share a table. A main course and green tea is usually just about £10.

Mainly due to the awful awful staff that served us...this has now become my least favourite Japanese restaurant in Soho. Trust me...it used to be my favourite. Terrible miserable staff have completely ruined Taro. Such a shame. They've lost a long time customer.

Dined here a couple of times. Both leisure and business. Staff are attentive but not 3* Michelin. Service was efficient and quick. Food is decent. Not amazing and not bad. Lacks consistency. Depends on who's making what. I ordered the same ramen, miso ramen, on a couple of occasions and they were good and decent. Sometimes, quality lacks consistency. The... More

Lovely dinner in a very relaxed environment. They were very accommodating, Without being asked, the waitress quickly brought us highchairs for the little ones. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. It's not the fanciest restaurant in town but we'd probably go again if in the area. Only reason for not rating excellent was toilets were a bit smelly and one... More

I love this little place and often go for lunch. The gyoza and the sashimi are my favourites. Very fast service.

My go to place in London for food. Always amazing. Best place to sit is at the bar so you can watch all the sushi being made.

If you like Japanese food then this is an excellent place to stop by for lunch or and evening snack. Working in Soho this is a frequent lunch venue and I enjoy it every time. Avoid the 12:30-14:00 peak and you should be able to walk in most of the time. If you are solo then ask for a seat... More

This place was really busy when I went with my partner - a sure sign that the food is good. We sat at the counter facing the kitchen as there no table available. It was really interesting watching the dishes being prepared. The portion size was big - I end up taking half my food home for lunch the next... More

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
