We ended up in this restaurant by chance as our favourite Japanese restaurant in the area was closed. Well, I now have 2 favourite Japanese places in central London! Quality of the food was amazing, the sushi so fresh it melted in our mouths and service very friendly and professional. 40$ each was the damage, without alcohol. So definitely not... More

Booked a 2 person table for a Friday night mid-June for my sister and myself. For starters, we ordered: aubergine dengaku, scallop & daikon salad & mixed tempura. For our mains, we ordered 1 pork katsu between us and a rice to share. Food was excellent, particularly the aubergine starter, prawn tempura and the unusual katsu sauce. Can't remember how... More

I've eaten at So three times in the past two weeks and I have mixed feelings about it. The good thing is that the food has been pretty good. Dishes are relatively large and some of them are particularly good value, for example the scallop and daikon salad starter was excellent value for £8 with three large scallops (and one... More

Big portion ! The rice was nice however the tempura, rolls and other bits were all just average. Plum wine on rock was nice however seriously just tiny bit of it in the glass with a huge rock!

Normally this place delivers, good food, at not astronomical prices for a Japanese restaurant. But will not be coming back after a tiny portion of black cod and tempura at forty pounds. Not great value, not great service, could do better.

Loved the food, loved the atmosphere, as it is realively quiet and calm. We went for an early dinner and liked it. It is a bit on the expensive side, but the main dishes are great - especially the cod dish. The sushi could be better, but they were still very good. And we loved the rice - it was... More

This place has seriously good sushi. Our beef and duck starters were out of this world and the edamame and seaweed salad and miso soup were lovely. After a slow start where we had to ask to get service, we then had a great waitress and food was served promptly. We were provided with complimentary birthday drinks which was a... More

A bit pricy but very good quality sushi and sashimi. Other dishes on the menu are also tasty. Service is great and ambiance is good to.

Modern in its minimalist use of dark wood, clean lines and bare-as-a-babas-wotsit walls, Sohos So looks every bit the contemporary Japanese restaurant. The airy ground floor bar, dining area and shop-of-sorts (Japanese crockery sits prettily in numerous display cabinets) leads down to a main dining room. The furniture there is still wooden but stained almost black. The cooking is consistently very good creative without being fussy, and much of it using organic ingredients. Menu in hand, make a visual beeline for the tempura selections (gorgeous), and then Grilled list. These knockout dishes most notably the Wagyu rump, and Iberico pork are cooked in the open kitchen over a rather special yogan-yaki grill resulting in an unique flavour. Friendly staff will knowledgeably suggest dishes and drinks.

Staying in Soho

Neighborhood Profile
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.
